Zuzana | 2570 comments I'm catching up on quests, too. I have to finish two books for Time for the Dead quest and 5 more books to get Spock's Plasma weapon.

I don't have much money but when the caravan arrives the little I have will be spent on heal potions.

See any of the dragon attacks posted before.

Zuzana | 2570 comments Carmen, you can drink any number of healing potions during your battles. The potions restore your health (a specific number of health points) so you can go on attacking the monster until it's dead.

Rules: "Potions may be used during or after battle. They do not replace your turn during battle and as many potions as you want can be used at any time.
• Minor Heal Potion - Allows healing up to 5 health during a battle.
• Heal Potion - Allows healing up to 10 health during a battle.
• Major Heal Potion - Allows healing up to 15 health during a battle."

So, can you just use a book with something spherical on the cover? Like a crystal ball or a basketball or a planet?

How about one of these:

Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie Wizard and Glass (The Dark Tower, #4) by Stephen King The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee The Solitude of Prime Numbers by Paolo Giordano The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer The Breaks of the Game by David Halberstam Equal Rites (Discworld, #3; Witches #1) by Terry Pratchett The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #1) by Douglas Adams His Majesty's Dragon (Temeraire #1) by Naomi Novik Moneyball The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming by Mike Brown A Red Herring Without Mustard (Flavia de Luce, #3) by Alan Bradley Across the Universe by Beth Revis The House of Velvet and Glass by Katherine Howe The Forgetting Tree by Tatjana Soli The Omnivore's Dilemma A Natural History of Four Meals by Michael Pollan The Botany of Desire A Plant's-Eye View of the World by Michael Pollan MaddAddam (MaddAddam, #3) by Margaret Atwood Night in Shanghai by Nicole Mones

...or am I completely on the wrong track?

It's up to each person how to interpret it. Just offer a brief explanation.

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Reva wrote: "How do you find a book exactly 125 pages. I have one that's 126 pages will that do?"

Best way that I have to find pages is to add num_pages to your to-read list then sort on that column.

Marked by Midnight and Kiss the Flame are the two that I have listed at 125.

It appears that searching google for:

site:www.amazon.com "Print Length: 125 pages"

Also has good results.

This one's free (no idea on quality or content) http://www.amazon.com/Cobbler-Ruled-A...

Not nice to cap the Heal Potions. You didn't before. :-(

Why don't you ever offer minor or major heal potions?

That's probably my fault, Reva. I shouldn't have explained why caravan heal potions are way better than the kitchen. ;) Well, from now on I won't discuss strategy here. I don't want to give Kelly any more ideas. :D

message 3572: by Zuzana (last edited Jul 24, 2015 11:22PM) (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Try authors with first names Bryn, Brynn, Kym or Lynn.

here is a useful list: http://babynames.allparenting.com/bab...

message 3573: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Don't worry. It wasn't your comments that made me put the limits on.

I want to try to rotate the potions you can get through the caravan a bit more randomly. So they're more like bonuses rather than something that's always there. But that also opens up the ability to have other potions cycle through too.

Same with the items.

message 3574: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments And if you're worried about the Jabberwocky just wait til you see this months monster :)

message 3576: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments So will there not always be a heal potion in the caravan? I'm just now thinking about dragons and I will need a ton of heal potions to defeat them. I had no idea I should have stocked up on them previously.

Or will there be potions that work similarly to help with the monsters?

message 3581: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Reva wrote: "Before I waste all my hard earned potions, what does the red gem of power do?"

The Red gem's supposed to feature in one of the future quests. So maybe we'll get to know in August update.

If I were you I'd wait till the update. What if the promised new monster brings something much more useful than the gem and you won't be able to kill it because you wasted all your potions on Jabberwocky?

I'll work on the quests this weekend. Just have been super busy with other things I am volunteered for and they had a lot to do last week.

The monster for the next update will take quite awhile to work on. There will be at least one new interesting potion to help with part of it.

I should be able to add the quest that has the red gem though I don't think all the parts for what you'll need in the quest will be out yet. So you can just look at it :)

There might not be, but I'll probably just vary the strength of the health potion available. (and cost obviously).

The cost of a particular potion may not be static between caravans either but shouldn't vary too much.

It can make a real difference in how successful you are. Eventually it allows you to one shot monsters quicker and can affect the number of potions needed to defeat a monster.

Get the cat. I've found it worthwhile -- but only if you plan to do a great deal of battles.
