Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Looking for help with this. I have no idea if any of these are correct.

• Ubiety - the quality or state of being in a place

So if a book takes place in ie California ?

• Perpetuity - the state or quality of lasting forever

An immortal or Vampire book?

• Palatability - the property of being acceptable to the mouth
a book about food?
Killer Crullers

• Acceptability - the quality or state of meeting one's needs adequately

Finding food, shelter, love?

• Isotropic - having a physical property that has the same value when measured in different directions

?..

• Uniformity - always the same, as in character or degree; unvarying

Hercule Poirot?

• Adaptability - capable of being adapted

Guy claims to never want to marry then does?

message 3456: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments The quality ones are mostly about your interpretation of things. For example I've found so far:

• Ubiety - the quality or state of being in a place First Frost Sarah Addison Allen 6/30/15 (Main character Bay has the ability to know when people or things are in the right or wrong place)
• Adaptability - capable of being adapted Station Eleven Emily St. John Mandel 7/6/15 (Humans able to adapt to life after flu outbreak that kills almost everyone)

I think anything you find is ok as long as you explain your justification.

Isotropic could be something like a circle/sphere so maybe the characters come around full circle in the end or there's lots of circles on the cover.

With Ubiety I'd make it one where the specific place they are is important to the novel somehow. Like they came home or went somewhere for a specific purpose.

reread it :p

I'm really in dilemma here. My original plan was to throw that one on Doves since I liked it that much. But now I saw a way to put it into that task.

I really envy you, ladies. I am registered in 2 libraries, one in my hometown and one in the capital (where I work). There are not enough English books in either of them and they don't lend e-books. So I can either wait till the book I want to read is translated and published here (and I estimate that only about 1/3 of books I am interested in is translated into Czech) or I can spend ridiculous amount of money on Amazon.com and audible. I do the latter.

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Quick Question about the Relay Race.

It says that subtitles count. Does that include the series name that's in ( ) next to the title?

message 3466: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Also I'm having such a hard time deciding if I want to build a house or not. Has anyone found it useful yet? It's only a ratio of 7EXP for 10 books read, so I can't decide if it's worth it.

message 3467: by Reva (last edited Jul 08, 2015 10:10AM) (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments The house offers exp pts. So that's not bad. The next step-- the Kitchen you have to decide for yourself.

There have been times when I wanted to concentrate attacks because of the time limitation of the Enhanced weapon potion. I didn't have enough potions to regain full HP. I was able to use drop bear steaks and mouse balls to regain HP quickly.

The steaks and balls and even * shudder* cure points may be even more important if the final cure takes too long and we miss out on the Caravan -- therefore no easy source of potions or poisons.

I read a lot and had plenty of books to use for the house and kitchen. That may not be the case with you.

Maybe the MODS may come up with a forge or armory to build enhanced weapons. Who knows?

The choice is ultimately yours. Zuzana is good with the numbers and to date they say the kitchen is not worth it. That may change with time. Otherwise, what am I to do with, to-date, worthless greater rat tails and acorns except to store them in the empty rooms of the house along with the skeletons of dead dragons?

;-)

Yeah, Reva said it all. So far the numbers are againts investing in the Kitchen. It might change in the future but I'm not holding my breath.

If you decide to go for it and use 10 books (no XP) to build a kitchen, keep in mind that to make it useful you'll also need to:
1/get the falcon (10 books - no XP) - you need mouse meat to cook meatballs,
2/and/or have a 15 attack points weapon - you need to be able to kill Bears in one shot otherwise Bear steaks make no sense (you would loose 8 health point to heal 7 HP?)
3/ and repeatably invest books in getting salt and/or herbs (3 salt/herbs for 4 books - no XP) - you need those for cooking.

So if you're not reading tons of books, don't bother with the kitchen.

Reva wrote: "Maybe the MODS may come up with a forge or armory to build enhanced weapons. Who knows?"

Reva, that's the reason I'm investing in the house. I so hope we'll get to build a smithy or an armoury in our houses. We really need something to boost our weapons for those promissed bad-ass monsters.

message 3469: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Reva, Kelly promissed that nuts are gonna be a must to defeat one of the new monsters.

I expect that when the new monster is revealed you could make some serious buck selling nuts in the open market segment of the caravan. I believe that only about two heroes bought their own squirrel and there is no other way to obtain the nuts. So here you go. :)

message 3470: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments I'm building a house at the moment in between reading books for my staff. The book:exp ratio isn't the best out of the quests but like Reva and Zuzana I'm banking on there being something else useful involving the house later on, not just the kitchen.

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments As for the house,

I think I'll take the plunge and start working on the house. Maybe I'll do it in pieces...first the foundation then the walls then furnish!

However, I'll DEFINITELY be waiting on the kitchen. Not worth it for me at this time.

Thanks for your theories / break downs everyone :)

message 3491: by Reva (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Love the new potion, Kelly. Thanks. You really have a creative mind.

Now the question that will drive everyone crazy is When do I use it? For the 900 page book, 1100 page? For Series #14, #17?

message 3492: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Heh, yeah I figure it will end up sitting in my bag forever because I'll be afraid that as soon as I use it I'll need it more for something else.

I do plan to give people them as rewards since they're relatively low risk as far as game mechanic impact goes. I have to be more careful with the damage potions and such because those can get out of hand easily.

There will be a few more new potions coming that should help with the new monsters :)

message 3493: by Reva (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Well plan fast, Kelly, because the Jabberwocky will be toast soon. :-). Looking forward to schooling new monsters.

message 3494: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Love the new potion, Kelly. It might come handy depending which quests will expire next month if any *winks*

I'm undecided whether to read books for regular quests or get some money from midas quests in time for the caravan ( and run a risk of not completing some of my ongoing quests before they expire).

Ok I'm confused. When you go up to the next level the hp starts with that hp Level even though we used it before?

message 3496: by Zuzana (last edited Jul 15, 2015 05:50AM) (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments When you go up to the next level, your health goes to the maximum for that level,

e.g. you are LVL 2, 11 XPs, health 5/12; then you complete a quest worth 4 XPs -> you are LVL 3, 15 XPs, health 14/14.

It's all explained really well in the first post of the Rules: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Emily Question about the Relay Race.

Do numbers count toward the letter count, if they're not spelled out. For example, with Faithful: Two Diehard Boston Red Sox Fans Chronicle the Historic 2004 Season, do I count "2004" as four letters or zero.

Also, I know it said no punctuation - is "&" considered punctuation (and therefore zero letters) or "and" (and 3 letters)... or is it 1 letter?

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Oh ok thanks. I thought you just added the extra 2 hps to the ones you have. I guess I'm going to have to fix mine. Thanks again :)

Let's go with alphanumeric characters counting. So 2004 would count as 4 characters and & would count as 0 letters.
