@Zuzana Yeah, I picked that one up due to suggestion. He doesn't actually ever run out though--it's all solar/recharging--so it didn't fit from my PoV. @Bethany It's related to the zombies that you have to kill. The quests to get things, or parts of things that help you defeat them as they get progressively harder.
It's been a bit since I read it, but I think they maybe run out of batteries in They Who Fell at some point. But honestly I couldn't swear to it now.
I am trying to mostly focus on getting through my netgalley books/things I have unread on my shelves right now -- other than books I see when I go to the library with my friend. So trying to read post apocalyptic/horror when I can. lol. So many times when I'm ROOTING for the flashlight to go out since it's the only one, and having my hopes dashed. It's become a running joke now with my friend. haha.

One 1300 page book fulfills the whole quest, FYI. 2^13=8192
***edited because my calculator is stupid & I can't math ;) ***

San Diego 2014: The Last Stand of the California Browncoats has someone run out of batteries in a flashlight or walkie talkie. It's short and good, part of the Newsflesh series but works as a stand alone and intro to the series to see if you will like it. Zombies!
@Ray I think I read one prequel in that already.... I can't remember for sure since I do read a fair amount of her books. But I know it's on my list. Thanks! And re: 5000 leagues -- you're right. I am 99.9% positive I did it with 3 and had a good bit of overage.
Well They Who Fell is post apocalyptic actually :) w angels. And it's free to borrow on kindle haha just if you're interested

I keep typing 2^10 into the calculator and coming out with 1024 send help
@Bethany 2^10 = 1024 (1000 page book)2^11 = 2048
2^12 = 4096
So 1 1000 page and 2 at least 1100 page = 5120
Or 1 at least 1200 page = 4096 so you could technically do it in two.
Or in 1 if you have a book 1300 pages.
I'm pretty sure I had one hefty King book and a GoT in there from audios.

Oh, ok! I can do that! Thank you!
I should look for a 1300 page book...
No prob ;) I think Reva or someone suggested IT by Stephen King, but I don't think I will ever be here for creepy clowns. lol. Good luck!

Yes, my math was off. I blame my new ipad calc app for not being scientific and my memory for sucking. ;) :) Morgan has it right. :DMorgan wrote: "@Bethany 2^10 = 1024 (1000 page book)

For the red gem, can you add more than one word to charge a book or is it just one?Ie - Take ⇢ Take A Gamble
I'm most likely going to be in the market for a book with a gold cover next open market, if anyone can help? Had a book on reservation with the library for ages and it's unlikely to get to me this year, but I need it to finish Beginner Fetch so I can move onto bigger things. Is everyone ready for Christmas?
Teresa wrote: "For the red gem, can you add more than one word to charge a book or is it just one?Ie - Take ⇢ Take A Gamble"
I did all mine as just one word, because that's what I saw other people doing/talking about. But I don't think I saw any word one way or the other on more than one word for a charge. :/ *not very helpful*

<-- I have this in my tote. Not sure if it's enough of the cover, but "gold" is the first color I think of. And I am HOPING to get my family's Christmas presents mailed out tomorrow in one big box. Still trying to get in the Christmas spirit in FL weather. lol.
Teresa, I'm afraid it has to be precisely one word. From the quest's description: "To charge a book take an uncharged books title and add ONE word to it."
Just because I'm feeling crazy busy right now and don't have the time to scour my bookshelves (which is usually the fun part). What did anyone use for Cheaters Sometimes Prosper
Task 3: Read a book that proudly displays its award. (i..e award "sticker" on the cover)
How to cheat: Use a different edition that has the award sticker when the one you read did not.
I think mine was Splendors and Glooms. My book didn't have the sticker but another edition did. Cat was the hardest for me on that one. lol.

I'm fine with that for gold.
Thanks Kelly! Zee wrote: "Morgan if Kelly oks it then I'll take it :)"
Rest of the info I usually keep for books in my tote: (in case it helps elsewhere)
Dicey's Song Cynthia Voigt359p Tillerman Cycle #2 [12/16]
Thanks Kelly! Is the open market open all the time now or at the end of the month? It's been a while since I've bought anything.

Hi all. I have a couple of questions. How do we buy things from Jack and Jill (where are the prices)?
My log stopped working and won't let me post any new comments. Anyone had this problem before?

Prices are in caravan here, market is for exchange between heroes.
I had no trouble posting in your thread, so it might be something on your end? or maybe it's just GR being GR again.
If it continues and if it's all over GR (not just here), you might want to contact GR support and ask them for help.

Just posted a new coment on my log, so it's not Goodreads.
I'm a player from ages ago. I had a rough old end to 2016 and I let all of my challenges slip and haven't updated this one since about June last year. I wonder if it permitted to just scrap the whole thing and start all over again? It would take me days to go and try and update. Is that possible? How would I go about doing it? Could I just delete or archive my original post and start a new one right from the beginning?
Welcome back NancyHelen :) From what I understand, you're free to keep going or start over from scratch. Whichever works best for you seems to be the general thing.
Thanks Morgan. I'm too OCD with getting things all neatly and perfectly up to date to keep going. I reckon it would just frustrate me. 2017 here in Australia (10 hours in, in fact) so new year, new start and all that!
Two questions about the horse quest (Two Empty Halves of Coconuts).1) " Read a book with the title starting with the letter H".
I still haven't used The Hero of Ages. Can I ignore the "The" at the beginning? (If I remember correctly, there were some quests that allowed this).
2)"Horse 2 is a Baroque Horse built for attack. He will give you 1 extra attack to both your weapons."
Does this mean that the weapons get +1 Attack or that we can attack twice before it's the monsters turn?
Alyssa wrote: "It's +1 attack. And yes you can drop The or A"Perfect. Three books down, nine to go. :P

BTW going to try to get up a few new quests for the new year. I think I'm going to drop the monthly update specifically and just try to post when I get them written. Then it's not quite so much work all at the end of the month.
Happy new year to everyone and YAY for new quests! :DKelly, if you're open to suggestions can we have a quest to commemorate some of the amazing people we lost in 2016?
David Bowie, Prince, Leonard Cohen, George Michael, Gene Wilder, Alan Rickman, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Harper Lee, Elie Wiesel, Edward Albee to name but a few. 2016 was brutal.
