Did you know that reading six books for A Toy for Hadley gives you the highest XP per book ratio (1.66 compared to 1.6 for five books, 1.57 for seven books, etc.). Because I do. xD
God, I'm a nerd.

I figure I'll be able to attack some of the uncommon monsters without devastating Hero Health in a week or two.
I am stuck on these giant fantasy novels. I may become resident rat killer in the Tavern. Especially if it earns me free drinks!
I killed a Goblin last night, y'all! First monster for me. Very exciting lol Need to start collecting those bones.
I'm still in the killing Rats stage. but they don't even get a nibble on me before I have them laying at my feet.
Rat killers are the best! This means no bubonic plagues. :) I am beyond the rat killing stage but it is sure easier to kill them in on strike that with that dang Nerf sword handed to us.
I am working towards the killing goblins in one strike.
I haven't been able to read as much this week. Real life keeps getting in the way of Lady Rachel's quests. Not fair!
Cait wrote: "I killed a Goblin last night, y'all! First monster for me. Very exciting lol Need to start collecting those bones."A big congrats Cait. Feels good, doesn't it.
I found leveling the staff up easier (ie faster) than the sword. I can use far more books < 200 pages.

Wait... cannons? Where's my cannon and what do I have to read to level it up???
*insert some pun on literature canon here*

One reason I would love to have our characters carry over from year to year is fun little challenges like gaining a level 15 sword. I am not sure I could achieve something like that this year with my prior commitments in place.

Almost all of them under 200 pages.
Sword level 5. = 100+200+300+400+500 = 1500+ pagesStaff level 5 (assuming 200+ pages each-- even tho most are under 200 pages)
= 5x200 = 1000 pages
I'll leave up to you to figure out how long it takes to read 1000 versus 1500 pages.
Staff wins hands down.
I read a lot of bigger books so for me the sword is easier for me. I don't always finish a series. Right now the three book in the series are holding me back but the sword books are flowing. I just pick books I want to read then place them in the most logical spot. For my reading the sword is way easier.
The key for sword books I to read only 100 page books. :P level seven sword could be only a total of 700 pages total.
You all just might be interested in a new selection of quests for March that just happened to appear on the Notice board just now.
RachelvlehcaR wrote: "The key for sword books I to read only 100 page books. :P level seven sword could be only a total of 700 pages total."But you have to read a 100+pg book, a 200+ page book, a 300+ page book, a 400+ page book, a 500+ page book, a 600+ page book, and a 700+ page book. They can't all be 100 pages...
Finding and reading all the books towards a level 15 sword is part of the challenge........not supposed to be easy.
Kelly wrote: "I think she means staff."No she says the sword is easier to do because she is stuck on her series :/

I meant staff. :P sorry I am still at work. Long day.
We're trying to get Midas quests featuring everyone playing. Though if you're active in the tavern or theatre it will probably be sooner since we have something to base the quests off of :)
I am always curious how many people pick up the random references to things in some of the quests. I'm probably trying to be too clever with most of them :P
Yay for new Quests! And thank you Kelly and Tea for taking my suggestion for a quest on board. I hope my fellow adventurers have fun with it.
Oh no, more quests! Methinks I almost need to drop every other challenge I am doing to focus on this one!Or perhaps I just need to read more...
Kelly wrote: "I am always curious how many people pick up the random references to things in some of the quests. I'm probably trying to be too clever with most of them :P"I LOLed several times when reading Everybody Lies quest. I loved House. ;-) Great job, Kelly.
I'm not a reading machine, I usually read 8-12 books a month so I have to pick my quests wisely. I try to decide which ones will bring me the most EXP points (or other benefits) for the least amount of books.I am on the fence regarding the Horse quest. 12 books seem too many considering they'll bring you zero XP.
A couple of questions for Kelly:1)For Boast the most and A Tavern Delicacy:
Can I boast about the same rats I'm bringing to the tavern to be roasted and made into the Delicacy?
2)Define what fresh rat means? How long after the kill can I use it for the Tavern Delicacy quest?
+3)I second Margaret's question: What is the reward for completing A Fairy Odd path quest?
I do my attacks on Sundays. So there is already a week of rest between the attacks. Does this qualify for part 3 of Treatment 3?
Margaret wrote: "Umm... what is the reward for rescuing the fairies (A Fairy Odd path quest)?"What rescuing fairies isn't enough for you. Think how thankful they would be! :)
Sorry, I guess it got deleted during tweaking and none of us noticed. (Of course I usually check only fixed part not everything. *sigh*) I don't remember what was it, so you'll have to wait for Kelly.

It might come handy in future. :P
As for horse, yeah it doesn't give any exp, but you'll have it once you get it for the rest of the challenge. And both of them (no you can't have both!) will help you with monsters so you'll get your exp that way.

Fresh kills are rats killed after quest starts. After that it doesn't have expiration date. :)
As if you can use same rats, I'm not sure. We had discussion about that but I can't figure out what way decided in the end. I'd say no, but Kelly (she's softie in this) will probably say yes. We'll have to wait for her.
What's the rule on alternative titles? I was looking through my tbr for a herb in the title for the Tavern Delicacy quest and found The Lavender Garden. My problem is that it was published in the UK under the title The Light Behind the Window and that's the only edition I'll be able to get my hands on. Can I count it for the quest under it's original title even if I read the UK version?

We are only distraction. While we are attacking dragon from this side, you and rest of heroes are coming from behind and getting your dragon steaks.
See, it's bulletproof plan!
