No, not rush. People just wanting to know what's next and having fun. If you don't wanna use those books, you don't have to. It's up to you. We'll get there, people just are anxious to see what Kelly's cooked up next. It's all in good fun!

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Cool. I guess it makes sense for original players to be low on things to do, but we newbies sure aren't! :)

message 6353: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane I'm helping on the good faith that there will be some benefit to those who participate at the end. I by no means have a surplus of things to do or stuff to work on but hey why not! Haha

Yeah, I'll put it in the list to do. It might be next week before I get to it though due to other things.

If they do something really amazing with the dress that's completely new then you could probably count it as invent (like crazy LED dress or something). But if it's just a new style then no.

For building something physical I was imagining more like a hour or table or something. If I search google for build a dress I don't get anything (and it auto corrected me to dresser first :) )

Yup. It's not very restrictive. My dog eats mainly celery and carrots besides dog food :)

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Neither the potions thread, nor the listing in the caravan state the duration of the weakening potion or the minor poison potion. Please clarify, thanks.

message 6359: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Poison is definitely a single fight. I'm leaning towards stating that weakening is too unless someone really wants to argue that it should be a week long one. (I thought that might be more obnoxious)

message 6360: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Thanks, Kelly. That makes it easier. BTW our dog can and will eat anything seemingly edible. Last year he harvested half a kilo of cucumbers before my mum spotted him in the garden.

message 6361: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments What would you accept for "a reflective object on the cover" and does it have to reflect something?

e.g. is a cover with a wine glass on the cover o.k. even though in that particular picture it doesn't reflect anything?

message 6362: by Shanna_redwind (new)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments Our dog doesn't really care if things are edible. String, Kleenex, underwear, socks, bark, manure, dirt, plastic bags. It all seems to be fair game if we don't manage to keep it away from him. Not trying to claim those things for a book though. Perhaps it has an effect on his room clearing ability.

message 6363: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Our cat eats string and tape and paper but not the dog.

message 6364: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments And I'm ok with a reflective object not currently reflecting as long as it's usually reflective in life.

No rush at all, except it's shaking things up. I was on a "Strict" course I set for myself in this game and it's kind of fun to throw plans to the wind and hustle to help out everyone. So the rush (for me atleast) is purely of my own making.

I started this from the beginning and still have A TON of things to do, but this is a nice diversion and makes it more like a real game. Nothing goes as planned ;) This was a great way to force me to get that tracking and kitchen, which I may have kept pushing for later and later.

message 6367: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane Rebecca I get you! I've been playing for awhile (not the whole time, but a long while) and I feel the same way.. I pushed plenty of things back because I was going to do things in my own order, but I want to participate too! haha it's definitely forcing me to branch out of what I thought I was going to do and shift some books around but I do like the sense of game community and I appreciate this challenge :D

message 6368: by Kelly (new)

lol. Those are the WORST. I have read a couple and then go to use them and I'm like SON OF A BISCUIT! because I forgot to even look beforehand. (Netgalley/kindle ones especially!)

message 6372: by Shanna_redwind (new)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments If it's looking a bit short, I usually check all the other editions to see if there's one that is 100 pages (shhh!)

One that I really wanted to read (and was useful for a quest) was only 68 pages, but I found an omnibus that included the whole series. So I read the whole series and marked that one down.

That's what I was really hoping for.....and why i was so disappointed that NOT ONE addition had 100 pages. Surely someone included the title / dedication pages in the page count :(

LOL. It's happened to me on many occasions. Having been burned, I now set up my books with page numbers, date published etc BEFORE I OPEN THE BOOK. ;-)

Page 3 of my thread lists the books I've read starting Jan. 2015. With page numbers. Many were under 200 pages. -- quite a few under 150 pages. Mostly romance or science fiction-- If that helps.

message 6378: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Thanks Reva!! I also spent some time yesterday looking through over drives audiobooks and clicking on each one to find short ones that looked good. I have s bunch and now I'm crossing my fingers they can fit somehow into the kitchen and rations.

message 6379: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments I also just realized I JUST need my kitchen and I don't have to do the whole making a recipe for the queen for steaks (meaning the quest plus herbs and salt quests) woooo! That would have taken me far longer.

Yeah, Rebecca, that makes it easier. How many books till you can donate a ration? I reshuffled books in my diminished tote, bought salt and 6 kitchen books from Reva and in the end I still need to read 4 books (2 to finish the kitchen, 2 to get a ration).

BTW Killed my first Merely Kat today. I hired the twins so now I have 2 Pelts to donate to the armourer. YAY!

message 6381: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Great job Zuzana!

I have 3 books left for Int Tracking then can fight my first Merely Kat. Luckily I was able to find a couple short ones so should be able to do that in the next day or two! And then 1 book left for my kitchen. Hoping to be able to contribute rations in another week!

message 6382: by Zuzana (last edited May 07, 2016 05:06PM) (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments 3 books for tracking and 1 for kitchen? That sounds good, Cathy. :)

If anyone's looking for "search and rescue dog" book to read I can recommend A Dog's Purpose. Quick and easy read if you love dogs and don't mind shedding a tear or two when reading.

message 6383: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I read that series a couple years ago - super cute books!

message 6384: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments Yay Zuzana!!! I'm going to kill my first Merely Kat on Wednesday and hire the twins for an extra pelt too!

So for rations, right now I'm working on my kitchen. I still have all 10 books to read for that (buying 3 of them from Morgan) and then I need to read 2 books for the actual rations. I found a bunch of short books but I have no idea if they will fit into the kitchen (I'll do more research on Monday). I also need to buy 1 salt and 1 acorn from Reva but will have the gold for that.

Rebecca, don't forget that the twins double not only the pelts you get but the potion tokens, too. You'll get 2 tokens to barter with if you want to buy more books. Twins are not as useful as Lady Ysmay but they're good (and cheap), too.

"Read a book where someone is closed off from the world either mentally or physically."?

Preferably something action/adventure related (as opposed to Romance) or Suspense/Mystery (Romantic Suspense ok). Absolutely NO tear jerkers of any kind, don't read 'em!!

I just finished Planetfall by Emma Newman recently and it blew me away. Would definitely work. The audiobook version is beautifully narrated by the author too.

Karsyn (imzadi) Thanks ladies. Hubby helped me remember Lock In, so I think I'm gonna re-read that, since it was FANTASTIC and I adore Wheaton as a narrator.

Not for me, Rebecca, I don't do any kind of sad very well. I only like positive stuff, and/or mystery type stuff.

That looks good Daphne, gonna put it on my TBR.

I'd go with 1 or 3 as being ok. 2 has nature but I feel like it's more of the lady being the scene on the cover.

Noooo, don't start over!! ALL of the books you've read since you started can be applied to quests / leveling weapons / etc! Just pick up where you left off and use those books up. :D
