I'm sorry you didn't want to win. Figured you'd want the chance to have us do the multi-RPG. :)

Even if you don't want to win, I encourage you to still get all the coins that you can, if you've done the stuff and just haven't claimed them. Having the coins will be a good thing, so I encourage everyone to get as many as ya'll can!!

Can you give us a hint as to why the coins are important please. I have lots of books to use in the wishing well but I'm also busy with Real Life stuff. So give me a reason.

message 5653: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Did you see my "Read Me" post? That gives the main clue there. :)

It's completely up to you. You have a really good amount already so you won't be missing out on anything moving forward with what you have now. I'm just trying to encourage everyone to grab more coins before they disappear. :)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3799 comments If you win with the most coins you get to pick the next group challenge. If you don't want to do that then you're probably good with your coins.

Yes, but! We want to encourage everyone to still gather the coins they want/can, even if they aren't in the running to "win". The Leprechaun Coins will vanish on the 1st, but perhaps something will come of them before then?!

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Oookay. I'll make some wishes. I'm just finishing my classifieds. I wanted to replace the level #11 book for socialite with something else and wouldn't you know, the darn replacement has noisemakers in it so now I have to find something else. Sigh. Sooo many books....

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments I have some questions. Hopefully someone knows the answers! :)

1. Shield quest - Does the shield work before defeating the monsters for the gems? Or, all gems have to be in the shield before it negates attacks?

2. If I use a few words from a scrounger quest for a potion, then can I use the other words for other potions? I mean, I can use all of the words up?

3. If using nuts in the slingshot doesn't take a turn -- if I have a dozen nuts, can I use the slingshot a dozen times without it counting as any turns?

4. Does anyone know of an author named Desiree who doesn't write cheesy-looking porn erm.. erotica? Or, can I use my nickname (Ray) for the Puppy quest?

5. Are there any other area-of-effect attacks, other than the horse blanket?

That's all I can remember right now, but I'm sure I'll come up with more questions. Thanks!

1. All the gems have to be in the shield :( Reva & I had a chat about that a few pages back. ditto you have to have the complete shield before the activated gems will work.

2. Yes, the scrounger lists can be used up in whatever order you want, to completion. Only one of each word can be found though.

3. I detest squirrels, so am clueless about the nuts & slingshot, sorry! I suspect you can only use the slingshot once before having to use a weapon turn, but really don't know.

4. Hahahahahahahaha! No. sorry. And I'm enjoying your discomfort too much to help out with a search!

5. Not as yet, but it might be addressed in the April update.

message 5661: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Unless Kelly objects, Ray, I would assume you can use the name you go by. I've also wondered the same questions since my "real/legal" name isn't the one that I go by anymore, though it may be easier to find an author with that name for me, than it will be to find "Karsyn". :)

I'd say so, Rebecca. It depends on if she wants 100% of it to be dark or partially be dark. According to the image extraction site I use it's about 75% Black and Brown.

Kelly being super evil! Of course, Reva & I could have it wrong, I'm not sure either Kelly or Tea weighed in to confirm. Maybe a mass offering to placate the gods?!

Zuzana | 2570 comments No, you're right. I asked Kelly about the shield way back. And you really have to get all of the gems first, then you need the two books (grey and smooth ones) to get the basic shield.

Oh yes, there's a bunch of sites. I'm particular about colors when needing to do a colored cover, so I always use them.

TinEye Labs is the easiest, as you just copy in the image link location. You may have to un-check the "exclude background" if you want to get the full book colors.

In the past I have used Image Color Extract and prefer it for primary colors, but it takes more time as you have to save a copy of the cover then upload the cover onto it.

message 5675: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Sorry Ray, I don't know about the nuts stuff yet, but I do assume that if you have 12 acorns, you can use them all without using that turn. That's how it reads to me. It does seem like it'd be a good thing, once you have some acorns piled up. :)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments See guys, it always pays to have fresh eyes in the game.

I've only ever used 1 Acorn per round but, now that you mention it, Ray, it does make more sense why the red gem would double a slingshot attack. I couldn't see why if it was only one attack point but if you had 34 acorns....hmmm I guess we need a confirmation from Kelly.

I've been waiting on doing the Rare Binding's attack to also catch my lemurs and merely kitties attacks. So I'll need to rework the numbers if more than 1 acorn per round can be used.

From previous answer: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

You can use as many acorns as you want. Though at 2 gold a pop, I doubt buying them straight out is the most efficient way of taking down some of the guys with hundreds of HP.

Plus, you know, if it gets abused too much I'll just make a monster that eats acorns :)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments For finding an author with the same first name, does spelling count.

My name is Leah Anne (I pronounce it Lee anne) Looking on Goodreads netted me two books, actually more than I thought it would. The first one there is no chance that I will ever read, though its probably interesting Violent Democratization: Social Movements, Elites, and Politics in Colombia's Rural War Zones, 1984-2008 and I dont think either is in libraries.

So is it better to go with Leah (not the same sound, but the right spelling of the first part of my name) or Leanne (Right sound, wrong spelling)

Apologies for the lack of some punctuation. I did something to my keyboard that Im not sure how to undo causing question marks to look like this É and apostrophes to look like this è

Hmmm. Let's go with Leah if that seems ok to you. I think most people have been doing it spelling wise since even ones that are spelled the same can be pronounced differently.

My first reaction to her question was "why not use "The"? " Then I looked back at what I did and I used only the vowels AEIOU. No "the".

message 5689: by Zuzana (new)

Yep I was forgetting at first that it can't be The. I was just in auto-pilot from doing other spell it outs. For some reason E was the hardest to find, but mostly because I couldn't find anything I felt really like reading, but found a short one.

I thought maybe it really had to be AEIOU because that makes it more difficult. Would be nice if it's not though haha

message 5692: by Alyssa (new)

Exodus by Leon Uris Exodus by Leon Uris.

Ulysses by James Joyce Ulysses by James Joyce

Both great reads, but not short.

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments I'm ok with ignoring the A, The, An. Same rules as spell-it-out. I don't see anywhere where I answered differently.

I try to specify if traditional rules for things aren't followed in the quest.

Daphne (daphnesm) | 937 comments Elephant Winter by Kim Echlin is a beautiful book. She is one of my favorite authors and very unknown unfortunately.

Edgar Allan Poe: The Fever Called Living by Paul Collins is a very short and interesting biography one Poe.

Extra Virginity: The Sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil by Tom Mueller is a fascinating micro-history about Olives :)

Unnatural Selection: How We Are Changing Life, Gene by Gene by Emily Monosson is short and you will learn lots!

Unclean Jobs for Women and Girls by Alissa Nutting is good if you are into or interested in bizarro fiction. Not a genre for everyone, but I love throwing in the absurd from time to time. :)
