Plus, it would help me level up my staff ;)"I've just been getting in the Vlad Taltos series. There are 14 books in audio, and they are all between 6:30-9:30hours. It's a cool mash up of fantasy, witchcraft, little dragon familiar, and mafia crime/mystery. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I picked it up specifically to level up my staff, and it's on its way to becoming one of my favorite series.
I also think the audio is done really well, and there is lots of humor in it.
Here is a link to the first book Jhereg

I've just gone through where I read originally (only made it through book #3), so starting book #4 soon to get to new content.
West Virginia doesn't have the first *Iron Druid* book -- just all the rest. :P I need to check Maryland though. I usually try WV first just because the hold lists aren't as long in the county I grew up in. But they have an okay collection.
Those of you who listen to audiobooks, do you have a certain app you use, specifically for iOS?I've been a long time Kindle user and my favorite audiobook app is Smart Audiobook Player, but it's not available on my iPad mini, which is still new to me. I've tried both Book Mower and Bookmobile (which are basically the same) but I don't love them. Anyone have any they can recommend?
The main thing I want/need with my audiobook player is the ability to speed it up, preferably by .1 increments like my Smart one does, rather than by .25 increments like Audible does. I never listen at normal speed, and I prefer to just bump it up a bit.
I've still just been listening to audio on my Kindle, since I love the app. I wish it was available for iOS!
I couldn't imagine not being able to use smart audio player! Another reason I'll never get an apple lol.
Daphne wrote: "I couldn't imagine not being able to use smart audio player! Another reason I'll never get an apple lol."If I had known, I wouldn't have gotten it! I debated getting a bigger Kindle or the Mini. I'd always wanted an iPad, and thought it would be fun to try out something new. The mini was on sale and ran me just $20 more than the bigger Fire I would have gotten, so I went for it.
I like it, I don't love it. If I had realized how much a pain in the butt it was, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. It's the little things that add up that just don't make it as good as the Fire (to me). So, I'm stuck. I went for the upgrade because my Fire (a really old 2nd Gen from 2013 I think) loses it's charge quickly now.
Now I just use both, which I'd rather not do, but it's easier to put audios on to and listen from the Fire. I prefer books on the Fire as well, though the Kobo and Marvin apps are ok for the Mini. When the time comes that I have to upgrade again down the road, I'll stick with the Kindle stuff!

I know I checked maybe 2 years ago and they didn't have the MP3 version, just a windows media player version which I can't play on any of devices.
Yay! Putting it on hold now :) Glad this discussion reminded me of it.
Morgan - sorry I was skimming on my phone and must have put your comment and the one below (about Dresden Files) together in my eyes. Part of the reason I listen to books more than read! (ha)

I can't help ya there :(
I have all apple stuff so I just listen to my audiobooks either through the Overdrive App or my Apple Music app.
I just discovered Overdrive app for my phone like, last week by accident, and I'm wondering how I've lived all this time checking out actual CDs from my library.. a whole new world has just opened. ._.

I only re-started the series this year, so I don't know that I would have noticed before. Glad they have it now!

I use the Overdrive app on my iphone. I can swap between libraries to search/check out and then they all collect on the same bookshelf for me. I love it.
I also use the audible app -- the kindle unlimited books with narration play through there. As well as my audible books I've gotten over a period of time. (Lord knows I'll end up back again for a subscription. If for no other reason but that they gave me more credits the first time I tried to quit and $20 the second time I tried to quit. lol.)
2 things...first, I just battled my first monster because when I finish adding my past 12 month books I got in the welcome basket, I will level up, so wanted to battle at least once before doing that!!! Second, anyone have any ideas/suggestions of books where people cook for the leprechaun quests? I am struggling with that one...
Might be a stretch but in the Hunger Games Peeta is a baker... or Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts if you like romance books. I did a quick Google search and that's what I found.
I read Alyssa Shelaskys memoir about learning to cook (I need it for my puppy quest) but it's all about her dating a chef and learning to cook and growing etc it was good I enjoyed it

My vote would be yes!!
Corinne wrote: "What's a good audio series? I am doing an annual audio challenge in which one of the challenges is to listen to a 10-book series on audio. Plus, it would help me level up my staff ;)"I loved the Her Royal Spyness series (I think there are 10 now). Starts with Her Royal Spyness.
Question -- if we go for the LRPG and get the pot of gold, is it only good for March or does it continue to generate 1 gold a week. With the welcome basket, I might be able to collect all the rainbow shards.
Not a question related to questing at all but when is the next team challenge? I see a lot of posts for them and really want to join the next one!!!
Corinne wrote: "Not a question related to questing at all but when is the next team challenge? I'm just the new baby mod, so I don't know if/when they even start talking about it.
They are fun. Hopefully you are enjoying the stuff with Leprechaun's though, and there's the Around the World challenge, it has teams if you are interested in that. The upcoming read-a-thon hopefully will be tons of fun too. :)
The ATW challenge is a lot of fun, and it's not super demanding at all as far as team challenges go. I definitely can't wait for another more intensive team challenge, like the tower teams, but I'm glad I got introduced to anything team based with ATW.

I would expect, like the puppy who can fetch gold, it'll just passively give you a gold each week. yay for passive income! :)
JoLene wrote: "Question -- if we go for the LRPG and get the pot of gold, is it only good for March or does it continue to generate 1 gold a week. With the welcome basket, I might be able to collect all the rain..."
The pot of gold will be with your forever. :) You don't even have to finish the LRPG quests this month. They can be continued on after March if you aren't finished. You just won't earn Leprechaun coins for them. If you are working on collecting coins too, you won't be able to use any book for the LRPG that was not read in March. All coin books must be read in March.

I didn't notice it until getting squirrel, but the description says nuts are used in cooking.I'm guessing I missed a recipe? I tried to look under the threads, but I didn't see it. Future recipe?

No recipe yet. Just used with sling in combat and Daphne's new stress release quests so far.

Thanks :)
That's what I was thinking were the only uses (why I didn't have one of the little critters yet just stockpiling nuts), but then I saw the text like......wait there are more things for me to cook? :D

I've been lobbying for a more active role for the squirrel for quite some time.
Same for the Falcon. I tried sampling mouse crisps (sort of like pork rinds with less fat) here in the Tavern. We'll see if there's any interest.

Mmm pork rinds, with less fat. Sounds kinda good...
Hmm...I could be convinced if they also healed me. ;) haha. Don't worry so much about fat content with all the staff swinging and adventuring.
Lady Indiwyn, Welcome to the game. I see you've got your Welcome basket all sorted. *slides a cup of Mead her way*
Morgan wrote: "Hmm...I could be convinced if they also healed me. ;) haha. Don't worry so much about fat content with all the staff swinging and adventuring."A healing benefit would make them nigh irresistible. :D It's not the affects of fat that I'm worried about, but the taste. Ick...

I'll have you know these were free range mice raised humainly until the cat chased them under my horse's hoofs. I had to wrestle the Falcon for them, so they were fresh!
If I use an enhanced weapon potion, does the rest of the week mean I get it for 7 days, or does it mean I get it until Sunday comes around again?
Rylie wrote: "If I use an enhanced weapon potion, does the rest of the week mean I get it for 7 days, or does it mean I get it until Sunday comes around again?"A week always means 7 days from when you use it unless it specifies a specific day that something starts/restarts.
And I shall look into more uses for the squirrel and falcon but I have something else to get through first :P
Rylie wrote: "If I use an enhanced weapon potion, does the rest of the week mean I get it for 7 days, or does it mean I get it until Sunday comes around again?"Oh good, thanks for asking. I assumed it was til Sunday as well, by how it's worded. Thanks for clarifying Kelly.
Yeah, the rest of the week, or the remainder of the week, makes it really confusing. Glad to know it's just a week. I'll change it in my log. :)

If you used the EWP on Wednesday, it's good until midnight your time the following Tuesday.
Woohoo just got my POT OF GOLD!Now I need to read 3 books to finish my Intermediate Fetch. I've been putting it off too long.
I'll be taking reading requests for POT OF GOLD (or any other quests) for the upcoming Open Market, if anyone needs help. ;-)
Ray,I took a quick peek at your Rock attack
I think you may need to rework your attacks. The following may help:
Rock - Many people might mock you for attempting to subdue the mighty rock. It's lasted for millions of years, who are you to try to best this foul beast. But you are not cowed by this formidable task. You will persevere! HP 1 +2 per Rock already killed) Attack 5 (+5 per Rock already killed)

You'll need potions to continue
I know you've been at this a lot longer than Ray or I, Reva, so maybe I have it wrong too? I have it as this ~
1 (+2 per Rock already killed) Attack 5 (+5 per Rock already killed) Health
Attack is listed 1st, then Health. You have it listed as Health first, then Attack. I think Ray's Health for the Rock is correct, though her Attack is wrong, as every level it goes up by 2, not by one.
Here's what I have for my first 5 attacks. Am I in the wrong?
• Rock (Population:
1 (+2 per Rock already killed) Attack 5 (+5 per Rock already killed) Health
Reward: 10 Experience, 3 Gold, 1 Pebble
