Yes, anything that increases your weapon attack is doubled, including the original 2 attack and any potions or baubles.

Any thoughts on the above prelim battle with Rare Binding. I have no clue on its attack strength in Round 2...

Since Lady Ysmey heals at the end of a round her heals count towards the attack power.

So:

Rare Binding reduced by Rock 31 -2 -1 Shield = 28
1 Blue Gem Effect (1/wk)
Rare Binding Attacks Hero 28/2 = 14 - 31 = 17 HP
Lady Ysmay heals +5 + 17 = 22 HP

The attack would be 22+1 increase.

If you didn't have Lady Ysmay the attack would be 17+1.

If it was the second round that that segment was from then it'd be 22+2, etc.

Since healing potions come at the beginning of a turn, they won't count towards the attack. (Well, healing potions come whenever basically so no reason not to specify they're at the beginning of the turn so they don't count.)

I have to say, this has to be one of the most creative, involved, and exciting reading challenges I've ever seen. I absolutely love RP, and RP with reading, it can't get any better. The quests are all their own mini challenges, and the weapons, and items and monsters and everything is just so well done.
So I'm just making sure, unless you have a duplication potion, a book can only be used for one thing, whether that be leveling up a weapon, progressing in one quest, selling it for gold at the market, etc.?
I'm glad I have a back log of January and February books that'll help me level up a bit. :)
I can't wait to get started

I'm saving my duplication potions for high level books #18 for my staff or 800+ pages if I level up my sword. A shame to waste them on something premature.

the between numbers books don't count for staff leveling but there are quests that look for those type of books. You can certainly use them for generic quests as long as they're 100 pages.

For the most part, you only need one strong weapon however if you study the dragon battles, you will see that at some point only the sword or only the staff are of use.

The Hydra also posed problems in the choice and size of the weapon chosen

One battle required the difference between the two weapons to determine the Hero's size of attack, so I built up the staff first and deliberately kept the sword level low get the higher attack.

Another battle required an average of the two weapons to determine the monster's size of attack. I had books in my tote to immediately build up the sword's level afterward.
