I picked something short, while waiting for you to tell me the day you want to start. Ok so you're ready then? If it's ok with you I will open the topic for tomorrow? That oughta give me enough time to finish this and see if anyone else wants to join in.

I got Made for You from Netgalley. Looks like it has pretty mixed reviews. I was wondering if anyone would like to do a buddy read with me in May?
Before I start Line of Descent I would like to check if anyone wants to do a buddy read of it, or if you would prefer to do one of the other books discussed here, in which some folks displayed interest in reading along. Is this a good time? If not, what would be?

I've been wanting to read that. Let me check if I can get a copy quickly. Can you wait a bit?

Hey guys!
I discovered this cool tool on GR phone app that allows me to scan the bar codes of each book I have been too lazy to post and they automatically upload to a shelf of my choice! So I wanted to ask if any of you want to do a buddy read of any of the books I have on my scanned shelf, besides all the ones on my r4r and netgalley.
Try this link for scanned shelf, not sure if it works for anyone else but me though: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
And Melas, please let me know when you want to start any of the books we mentioned before!
If no one wants to do any buddy reads for now I will start Line of Descent and then Aftermath as planned.

I don't own it, sorry :(
Btw, has anyone had a chance to sift through my scanned/netgalley/r4r shelves, see if there is anything there you want to do a buddy read of?

Yes, but none of those are books I've seen on B&N or heard anything about. I'm sorry! I think I am more of a pop culture kind of reader.

Awesome! Let me know and I'll start a thread. The thing about older books is that it's easier to get cheap copies.

Kandice, do you never request from Netgalley?

I think it’s an incredibly attractive idea, just not feasible for me.
Well, I don't think there is any downside to trying, you just click the 'request' button and it's either accepted or denied ;)
I love the anonymity, not having to worry about hurting authors feelings, eh. And I got plenty of free books before having a blog. I think it's worth a shot, but up to you!
Word of caution though: if you do decide to go for it and get approved, login to your account as soon as you can to download the file, as some get archived shortly after and therefore the file is no longer available to download.

My request for Disclaimer at Netgalley got approved, whoop! It took them a few days, I had actually pre-ordered it at Book Depository because it sounded so interesting and I was convinced it would get denied (it said something about preferring readers from specific countries).
I think it is one of those books where a buddy read would be really fun. Does anyone want to do it with me?

I try to re-read at least one King a month and I am itching to re-read one of those. They're short...
That sounds very interesting - it's been on my to buy list for a while - but unfortunately I am still on a self-imposed purchase ban!
I figured I would mention my latest acquisitions via Netgalley, in case anyone wants to do a buddy read.
Some of them are very different from what I usually read so I am excited to get to them and it would be even better to have someone to bounce ideas off!

It's a wonderful tale, though and I do plan on reading the rest. Eventually...
Yeah I heard you should actually take notes on all the characters while reading it so I figured I should be on a big vacation to be able to handle all that!

Although the cast on the series is massive, many, many characters are completely removed.

Do you have HBs, e-books or paperbacks. I bought the e-book collection because it was so much less than buying them individually in any format, but my son has the first two PBs and thy don't have notes at the back!

I bought them in the Hong Kong airport. I was bored, had finished all my books for the trip, saw them in the library, remembered a friend was raving about them, so bought them thinking "well, at least they're thick enough, they'll occupy me for a while". And even thought the start was laborious because of the numerous characters, by book two, I was completely caught in it and could hardly put them down.
Hey, guys.
I plan on reading Disclaimer after finishing my current book. Maybe 3 days, not sure. Just wanted to double check if anyone wants to do a buddy read with me. Sounds like a great book to read along.

That looks really good, unfortunately the kindle version is a bit pricey for me right now, and I'm not eligible for a Netgally since I don't have a review blog....I'll be looking for your review when you read it!!!
Leigh! Hey girl, haven't seen you in ages!
Aww what a shame. Did you try requesting it anyway? Sometimes I get nice surprises. Like when the publisher says they want, I don't know, say Australian reviewers and I get accepted, teehee.
I haven't had much time to listen to my book so will probably take a while longer till I can get to it.

Aaron, I try my best to stay in topic. As you can see, I did not just say hello to Leigh.
If people keep starting random conversations in specific topics just because, not only will it be difficult to find related posts to what is being discussed, but it is also hard to find where something was posted, since it was put where it did not belong, not related to the topic.
It's not always easy because sometimes one thing leads to other (and I have done that myself, although after a while I try to create a new topic to discuss that new thing, as I have seen others do) but, generally speaking, it shouldn't be too difficult, especially for something like saying hello. That's what the Random Chats topic is for, as well as other random stuff.
Sorry if this upsets anyone but I felt I should speak up by now because quite frankly I view it as spam. I truly dislike going to a topic hoping to find comments related to its title and then having to skim through all the unrelated stuff.
But I would like to make it clear that that's a personal preference, so if it doesn't bother anyone else then it's fine by me, I'll just keep skimming through it.

I'm not sure...When I originally looked into the site, it seemed like I wouldn't be eligible for books. I'll put it on my wish list in Amazon, sometimes these things go on super sale for promotion! Tell me when you start, and I'll see if I can get it or not. :)
I am thinking at least two more days till I finish my current book but not sure, I will probably be gone for the next few days and most likely will not have access to internet at all. If you think you'll be able to do a buddy read of it say within the next month I am more than willing to wait!
I still think you should try to get it via Netgalley though ^_^ Unless it's already been archived O.o

There is also an intense debate that rages to this day regarding Dexter's actual condition - psychopath or sociopath.

Although I think my requests are mostly accepted because I often tend to go for obscure and probably less requested books.
Anyway, you can try, and don't take it personnally if your request doesn't get accepted.
Also, there are a lot of books marked as "read it now", which means you do not have to wait for approval to get it.

Thanks for the tip!
Any luck, Leigh? I am hoping to finish Clay today, fingers crossed. I can read another book while you get Disclaimer or try to get it from Netgalley?
