sahrai (sarahmirzayee) Hey guys! It’s almost December which means it’s time for our December Readathon! If you want to participate please sign up below! Sign-ups will be closed on 11/29 and the teams will be announced.

Theme Examples:
- Set During Winter
- Set During a Christmas, Hanukkah or New Years
- About Family
- Contemporary

Page Points:

Every book you read you can receive you a different amount of extra points depending on the number of pages- (ex. if you read a book with 300 pages, you will get one point for finishing the book and 2 additional points for the number of pages. So 3 points in total. Points from any one of the prompts you complete will then also be added. Books between 150 and 249 pages do not give you any extra page points.
- 250-350 = 1 points
- 351-450 = 2 points
- 451-550 = 3 points
- 551-650 = 4 points
- 651-750 = 5 points
- 751 or more = 6 points

Rules:
- All books MUST be 150 pages long or more
- Comics and mangas ARE welcome but the same rule applies above
- Books are only counted in the time frame of December 1st - 31st
- Re - reads are applied
- You must start the book in December and finish it within the time frame
- If you sign up please make sure that you are being active, if you don’t think you can participate fully don’t sign up
- Books are not required to be YA
- Read! Read! And have a great time!
- **UPDATE** Books DO NOT have to be themed but you will gain extra points if they are

If you would like to participate sign up below! Have a great day!

message 3: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn Do the books we read have to match the theme?

message 4: by sahrai (new)

sahrai (sarahmirzayee) ^ not necessarily, for example I write contemporary but as long as it has some sort of wintery aspect you will be fine

Lilly #2 (stormiiclouds) | 138 comments hello! i would like to join, this sounds fun :)

Violet (Decently_Good_Reader1) (promecool) | 119 comments For the contemporary theme does it have to be wintery or can it just be a contemporary?

Violet (Decently_Good_Reader1) (promecool) | 119 comments I think you only get points if it matches the theme

Violet (Decently_Good_Reader1) (promecool) | 119 comments I'm pretty sure that the theme is separate from the prompts because in the last readathon in this group it was a Halloween readathon so for the book to count it would have to match the theme (be horror, take place on Halloween etc.) Then if the book also fills a prompt (These have not been posted yet for this readathon) you get 1 extra point (example from the Halloween readathon -Read a book with Halloween colors on the cover- -Read a book with a ghost on the cover- -Read a book that has the POV of a villain-) So the book has to match the theme to count toward points at all and prompts are just a bonus to get some extra points. I hope this was helpful.

Yes! That's right! Plain contemporary books count, they do not have to also be wintery. The prompts count for extra points which have not yet been posted.

Lilly #2 (stormiiclouds) | 138 comments ok so if I'm understanding this right - for the books to count towards the readathon, they have to match the themes, but you can get extra points for completing prompts?

sahrai (sarahmirzayee) Emma wrote: "Hi, just curious, does each book only count for one theme? For example, I have a contemporary book that's set in winter, but also around Christmastime, would that count for all 3 themes, or just on..."

Oh good question! I would say each theme is one point so in your case yes, it would count as 3 different themes in total!

message 22: by sahrai (new)

sahrai (sarahmirzayee) Emma wrote: "Also, does a book have to be under a theme to be eligible for the prompts? Or is that kind of a given because of what the prompts are? (e.g, a book with Christmas lights on the cover, probably set ..."

Books do not have to be under a theme to be eligible for any prompts, we will have some neutral prompts as well!

Violet (Decently_Good_Reader1) (promecool) | 119 comments When do we get teams?

Lilly #2 (stormiiclouds) | 138 comments Not sure where else to ask this- but would a book of short stories count? The book itself is within the page requirements, but it's a collection of short stories that aren't within the page requirements

Lilly wrote: "Not sure where else to ask this- but would a book of short stories count? The book itself is within the page requirements, but it's a collection of short stories that aren't within the page require..."

I would say yes! As long as the total page count is over the required amount, then it counts! :)
