Sorry not sure I got all that done the right way. But I read this a couple years ago maybe 2-3. I know the main character fights in the tournament a large battle comes about he fells on a ship they end up discovering a mythical magic island. Sorry so vague been a while and trying to remember the book is driving me crazy.

Sorry all I remembered was a rough outline of what happens.

The MC is trained then defeats all his trainers/instructors one escapes. He leaves to track down the last one. He calls small men and grown men and wonders why people don’t follow the rules he was taught. He starts to take over part of the criminal underground and they have him fight in a tournament to prove they are the strongest group. He wears a mask that he eventually replaces with a magic mask to hide his identity from his friends. At the end of the first book there is an attack at the tournament and everyone flees. They end up on a ship eventually they find a mythical island to set up as home base.

Some of that may be jumbled but that’s the just of what I remembered
