How's the Institute Subham?? I have it but not sure when I'll get to it!

message 102: by Roger (new)

Roger | 137 comments I'm currently reading several different manga at once (to save myself from burnout due to binge reading). One of my favorites that I'm currently reading is The Quintessential Quintuplets (currently on Vol. 8). I've watched the anime already and I wanted to read it to relive that experience again. I loved the anime and I've heard nothing but good things about the manga so I was excited to pick it up. I also decided to pick up Death Note (chapter 7 currently) and I'm enjoying it. I haven't seen the anime to Death Note so I'm going in with no knowledge of the story. Finally, I'm reading Your Lie in April (vol. 5 currently). Again, another one I haven't watched the anime so I have a fresh perspective on the story.

I just recently finished Shaman King (thank you Kindle Unlimited for having the entire series).

I really enjoyed Jujutsu Kaisen I’m all caught up on that one and haven’t watched the anime but thought it was great. It currently just went on hiatus due to the mangaka’s health.

I finished a few thriller novels and am currently taking a few day reading break whilst I catch up on a few podcasts and Disgaea 6. Still trying to squeeze in a volume of Promised Wonderland each workday though.

message 105: by Ana (new)

Ana Jim (anabel_jimart) | 62 comments Hello! I'm currently reading some books and 3 manga:

- Doubutsu no Oisha-san. This one is SO good, I can't recommend it enough!

- Eden no Ori. I hate this one, but I hate dropping things lol)

- Finder. Recommended for yaoi lovers.

I already read Yakusoku no Neverland, so I won't participate in this monthly challenge. But those of you who are reading it now, I hope you enjoy it! :3

I'm reading The Forgotten Neverland and Tokyo Tarareba Girls for manga right now, and Vendetta Road and The Magic Tree House series, as well as still slowly working through David Copperfield.

So, I went to read volume 7 of Tokyo Tarareba Girls on comoxiology unlimited and they took it off. I was planing to read Alive and Love Hina as well, since they had them all, but now the last 3 volumes of Alive and last of Love Hina are off as well. They did add all of The Quintessential Quintuplets, and Alita is still on, as are four of the five volumes of the squeal, Last Order. So, my plan for this month is now to finish Alita and Quintuplets before they take any volumes off, then continue with Neverland and Tarareba.

Tokyo Tarareba Girls is ok, if a bit like a soap opera. It's about 3 unmarried 33 year olds who want husbands. It's funny in places.

Greg | 1117 comments Mod
I enjoyed the Mistborn Trilogy Subham.

message 112: by Joshua (new)

Joshua | 8 comments I was working on the Yu Yu Hakusho series (up to vol 6), but seeing as some of the volumes are out of print (and crazy expensive!), I'm taking a break. I might just have to go digital for some of them..

Right now, I'm reading Baron: The Cat Returns. Enjoyable so far.

message 113: by amanda ✨ (new)

amanda ✨ (its_amandaa) | 101 comments i finished volume 2 of yu yu hakusho and took a break because i want the physical copies of the next volumes.

Monica ✧♬•* (monicadeoliveira) | 19 comments Akiko higashimura's works really have a soap opera feeling to it lol I was reading kakukaku shikajika and it's fun, but put it down a bit so I can finish sousou no frieren

message 115: by adi (new)

adi (neolific) i’m reading bakuon rettou

message 116: by Roger (new)

Roger | 137 comments I'm reading Komi Can't Communicate at the moment. It's pretty good. The anime comes out in October and I wanted to finish the manga before watching. I'm currently on Vol. 9 and I'm a bit sad I only have 3 left to go. Also starting Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

Eager to hear your impressions of Nausicaa one of my favorite films.

message 118: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) Not sure why but have been struggling to pick up any manga to read the last couple months but I picked up Berserk vol 1 in a sale on comixology the other week and i decided to start it today and i think it may have bought me back. Going to have to pick up volume 2 very soon. :)

message 119: by Greg, Slime Knight (new)

Greg | 1117 comments Mod
Good stuff Justin. I bought the whole series on sale on Amazon $4-5 for volumes. Still pretty hefty but definitely the cheapest way I was gonna get it.

message 120: by Christian (new)

Christian Jackson | 35 comments Man I haven't read Berserk in awhile but when I have enough spare room to collect the Deluxe editions I plan on getting them over time. I'm always keeping myself busy reading in my spare time so I'm reading MHA, Black Clover, and One Piece every week along with some other series but out of physical volumes I recently read Witchcraft Works, Kaiju Girl Caramelise, Black Torch, the Girl From the Other Side, I am a Hero, and Zom 100:Bucket List of the Dead.

I am a Hero has been on my list for some years and it was not what I was expecting. It's a slow burner that has an odd protagonist so it was pretty interesting. And Zom was really refreshing to read and definitely needs more attention on it!

Btw I have to ask but has anyone read Chainsaw Man?

message 121: by Greg, Slime Knight (new)

Greg | 1117 comments Mod
Many of us have read Chainsaw Man stop by the discussion thread if you’d like. I’m only like 4 volumes in but I love it.

message 122: by Christian (new)

Christian Jackson | 35 comments Idk how but I first saw the profile pic for this group a few days ago after I made my comment and felt dumb for asking lol

I'm glad you're enjoying it!

I just started rereading Ai Yori Aoshi I never finished that one though I read a decent chunk. I’m also about to finish the 11th light novel for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime which I’m still really enjoying.

Next week the new Peter V Brett novel The Desert Prince comes out and I’m stoked to read that one. I loved his Demon Cycle and even have a tattoo of the wards from it.

I think they're still doing the sale on Comixology for like the first 3 volumes of Parasyte. It'd be worth it if you really enjoy the series

I've got all of Anonymous Noise and most of Attack On Titan and Attack On Titan Before The Fall from the library, and am still working on Love Hina as well.

I've been plowing through a few novels. I recently finished Desert Prince by Peter V Brett which is a sequel to his Demon Cycle series which is excellent if you enjoy grimdark fantasy. I then moved onto the newest Michael J Sullivan novel Nolyn which was good but not as good as his previous works. Now I've moved on to the newest Stephen King novel Billy Summers. I'm enjoying it. It's a thriller novel not a horror this time around. A little to many drops in it about modern society which will make it obnoxious 20 years down the road but I'm digging it.

message 130: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) I'm looking forward to reading Billy Summers should be starting it soon been working my way through Kings whole back catalogue currently 31 books down out of 79, just under half way lol, Currently reading Songs of Susannah and also the Night Shift short story collection. Also on the manga front just finished volume 4 of the promised neverland and I don't think my heart can take another volume like that lol

message 131: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) Also between yesterday and today I have read the complete Pluto by Urasawa series and it was such an incredible series only 8 volumes so you an fly through it all quite quickly. This would make for great discussion in a group read at some point as so many topics and viewpoints are touched on throughout this series.

message 132: by Roger (new)

Roger | 137 comments I'm split between JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 4 - Diamond is Unbreakable and Vinland Saga. I'm almost finished with both but Vinland Saga has definitely grabbed my attention mostly. I'm on Volume 9 and I think there are only 11 volumes at the moment.

message 133: by Grace (new)

Grace | 143 comments Vinland is amazing. I read and caught up with it earlier this year! there's a new volume coming out in October I think. I just started reading Jojo's bizarre adventure. not super hooked right now. don't particularly like the art style. but I'll continue and give it a shot. I continued with my read of Dragon ball and I'm seriously obsessed! so much so that I'm going to spend $200 buying the rest of the omnibus editions I don't already have haha. So excited!

message 134: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) I did the same with dragon ball once i started the first 3in1 volume i was obsessed and just ordered all the rest in one go lol so glad i took that plunge its well worth it. Hope you continue to enjoy it. I’m still yet to start reading Vinland Saga i have all 11 volumes but I’m fighting the urge to start it just in case it gets nominated for augusts read so can start then lol I’ve started reading Demon Slayer 6 volumes in and I absolutely love it, if anyones on the fence about reading it don’t be i cant recommend it highly enough at the min!

message 135: by Grace (new)

Grace | 143 comments I've been reading Demon slayer too! so so good! I just finished volume 6. Can't wait to continue!

I've been working on Anonymous Noise. On volume 12 of 18 so far. It's ok on the whole, there could be a lot more character development though. The art is pretty good as well so thats a plus.

After finishing Usagi Drop I’ve been reading The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig and the House of X / Powers of X trade paperback (X-Men) and have been really enjoying it.

I am currently reading The Book of Accidents. It's really good, enjoying this a lot.

Also, I everyone else! My first time posting here 😄
So, I've also started One Piece (I know I am late to that one 😂) and reading some Toriyama Short Stories. You really have to remind yourself that those are from the 70s because it's quite old fashioned. What I thought was funny when I was a teen now is just.. 🙄😂

message 142: by Greg, Slime Knight (new)

Greg | 1117 comments Mod
yeah Feli sometimes the nostalgia doesn't hit just right lol

message 143: by Justin (new)

Justin (jbradley86) I found the same on the earlier dragon ball volumes had to double take a couple of panels like did I really just see that 😂 One Piece is really good im taking my time getting through it just doing a story arc at a time then taking a break to read something else. I really enjoy what Ive read of it but do wonder if i just read it constantly if it would get too repetitive.

message 144: by The Book Dragon (new)

The Book Dragon (restel) | 200 comments Jenny wrote: "How are you liking Tokyo Tarareba Girls Evelyn?"

Mixed and undecided, but mostly positive. It's good enough that I'm hooked and want to keep reading, but it's got a lot of complicated adult romance mixed with some sort of midlife crisis themes.

I'm hoping for the best but I'm trying to prepare for the worst.

message 145: by Jenny, The Odd Otaku (new)

Jenny Clark | 927 comments Mod
Haha I found the focus on the romance to be too uncomplicated myself, since there were no outside influences to it. Of course, I'm close to the age of the charcters soo (・_・;)

message 146: by Roger (new)

Roger | 137 comments I'm almost finished with Goodnight, Punpun. One of the most MESSED UP and depressing manga I have ever read. I'd still rate it pretty highly.

I have the full run of that now as well. hope everyone had been keeping well?
