Read this within the past year or two. It's a fictional serial killer story and all i can tell you is that it starts with an old man getting hit by a vehicle (bus? truck?) and the contents of his pockets point to him being a serial killer the cops have been looking for. Turns out he isn't. He's an old guy with a terminal illness who has been convinced to jump in front of traffic by the real serial killer, who turns out to be (spoiler alert!) one of the cops investigtaing the case. Driving me nuts. Please help!!

That's it! You, sir, are a balm to my pickled brain. Funny thing is, even when you wrote that title, I didn't think it was the book I was thinking of until I googled the plot details. So yes, this is a strangely memorable book that is also strangely forgettable. Strange. Thank you.
