I finished it too today and I know what you mean Andrea. It could have been longer for few chapters in my opinion. I'll rate it 5 stars for the sake of sentimental value. I wish we had more scenes with Vasilisa and Christian. And (view spoiler)[ I wish they came to Adrian and Sidney for Christmas too. And did I miss something or we still didn't get anything about changing the law about one living relative for ruler to be able to rule?? (hide spoiler)]
The best part of the book was Richelle's Thank You note where she said we're not over with moroi and dhampir world yet.

It's more like they have connections and have those other people take care of things which I get (and it's good and all) but it just seems less exciting. I keep comparing it to Vampire Academy where Rose and Dimitri were both physically strong and were always in the centre of action.

I think Declan is key to uncovering answers about Spirit and I don't want him to be a lab experiment, I really want to know if his life could help others. Maybe he could be the key to the strigoi vaccine or help other dhampir couples have children? And Irena is definitely right, about the law for rule. Plus it would've been awesome if Christian and Lissa could've been there, even if they didn't know the truth. I want to see more of that Moroi fight squad too. They were awesome! Please Richelle give us another book or series or trilogy or anything! Maybe about Jill and Eddie, I think they're a little neglected especially since Jill has been taken twice. (view spoiler)[Oh my ... i never thought there would be any ending I would like... but I did like this ending. I was crying so hard as Olive died and some other times for Declan and Neil. The letter was so ... I don't even have words for that. Sydney got everything she hoped for and I bet in all the time she wished to go to the university (especially when she was still with the alchemists) she never thought it would happen by the help of Morois. ;) I was really surprised by the acknowledgment. There WILL be more. I was so sure about 'this is the last one'. But I'll love that. I don't think it will be about Jill and Eddie. They where to present in Bloodlines. Maybe something new. Maybe Mia or someone from the squad. Or another child from dhampirs which was hidden and is older? Or just a mixed book about sydney and rose? That would be like a ribbon to bost parts of the serie. But it must be something near Sydrain. So we could see more about the little master ;) and his dad... I really need more of them. I want them happy. I really hope Richelle isn't going to wait for ... 2015 or so, when Duncan could be old enough to be the main character, but he should be older. There is a conflict coming about telling him of Neil and Olive... Maybe they rise him with dream-meeting with his father? But then Adrian had to scip the pils again ... so I don't think so. Questions over questions... but I can live with that... We all have to, right...? (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 3. I wasn't a big fan of Silver Shadows, so I'm pretty worried about not liking this one either. So far, though, I like it! (view spoiler)[ I liked the plan to get Sydney through the gates - being turned into a cat certainly would have been interesting. I'm worried about Jill, but even more worried about Adrian. I figure Lissa will eventually get the law changed so she doesn't need Jill, but there's really nothing Adrian can do to fix what's going on with him. Plus, he'll now be stressed aboutSydney, which makes the madness even worse (hide spoiler)]

Nina must be using Spirit for other reasons than reaching Olivia through her dreams. Is it really possible to Olivia to kick her out? Interesting developments! (hide spoiler)]

I agree - (view spoiler)[At this extent, he doesn't like feeling helpless and an inconvenience. His presence at Court will certainly cover Sydney's location, but obviously, Adrian wants to do MORE. I'm scared if Sydney will get caught but right now, I'm excited Jackie's back in the story again! I really missed her and I know Sydney does, too, as well as the magic. (hide spoiler)]

I'm curious where Jill is. It's hard to fathom what their motives or bargains are, since they haven't killed her, yet, just drugged enough to not dream. They know better. We all wish the bond works both ways!

Chapter 4: (view spoiler)[It's logical to say that the Alchemists might be the one who captured Jill. They know she's Lissa's key to her throne, until the new law is passed. Lissa's siding with Adrian and Sydney, protecting them since they're her people now, and that angered the Alchemists because Sydney's one of them and it should be their decision what to do to her. They also know how close she is with the Moroi, particularly Jill. Giving this box through Jackie meant someone knows her involvement to her is more than just being her student, and they already know she wields magic when Sheridan cornered her. Luring her in this kind of bait will be effective and we know how controlling they can be. It's a probably a declaration of war between the races. But that's more complicated since this is the last book. I'd like to think that Mead has tricks up her sleeve into not giving obvious clues to Jill's abductors. I hardly guessed who killed Tatiana in Last Sacrifice, so fingers crossed to her writing skills for this sequel! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 4: (view spoiler)[That's more like it! We're getting into action and mystery already, even if the book's just started. That compartment was meant for Sydney to see and Jackie felt magic radiating from it. How did that happen? Only Morois or capable humans can do that. This is really sounding like a thriller and fantasy instead of paranormal. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 5: (view spoiler)[At this point, Sydney wins the POV preference award, seeing as hers have a lot of mystery going on, although there are many subplots in Adrian's, AND the whole story.

I'm enjoying this Moroi using magic and training for combat for defense. It's a little wrap up of the whole series in itself. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6: (view spoiler)[I knew it, that girl had to be alive! She was my guess back in Silver Shadows, the mystery visitor of Adrian. So she's the one who's doing all this? Who kidnapped Jill? I don't even remember if she knows Jill but it's probably her spying and magic skills to cover up her real appearance. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 10: (view spoiler)[It is indeed a miracle! So many developments! Not only to this story itself but also with spirit. Only a handful of info are known to that element and little by little it is probably the most helpful out there. Fire, water, earth and air are helpful as well, of course, but what spirit is capable of is beyond imagination. Aside from its Strigoi restoration, it can be used for immunity from being turned into one, and now... a dhampir to dhampir can produce a dhampir as well! It would help those both dhampir couples who want to have children and would lessen dhampir women getting involved with asshole Moroi men. But spirit users are so rare that this will take time to be fully possible for their whole race. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11: (view spoiler)[I am so curious with Neil's reaction! At the same time, I'm scared that what if he's not really the father as Olive believed him to be?! There's something lacking in this whole mess. And then there's Nina, who's gone crazy just to reach her sister and even restore her and then she's gone. How awful. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 12: (view spoiler)[I KNEW it! It really was Alicia! That witch is such a clever genius to even use Trey's—well, and Adrian's— apartment bathroom.

On the other hand, Jackie's coven is certainly a HUGE help with defeating her. I really hope they succeed. But there's no telling that Jill will automatically be rescued. It's just almost 60% into the book, but who knows. *cross fingers* (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13: (view spoiler)[This is getting AWESOME! The magic and spells I mean. It isn't surprising the Warriors of Light are holding Jill captive. I just hope they haven't tortured her. I wonder how Alicia knew of their existence, they're not that popular. But anyway, it was a great bargain for Alicia since Sydney definitely took the bait, and the Warriors definitely want a Moroi captive. (hide spoiler)]

I don't really get why the Warriors have Jill? Other than the fact Alicia brought her there? What purpose does it serve them.. It wasn't really explained properly or I just totally missed it. All I know if the Alchemists have connections to them and it'll be in their best interests for Jill to be returned to Lissa...
