Eligmil | 5 comments Description: 6-7 books in the series, hardback with that plasticky coating that books for small children tend to have. Books were white, square, about 20cm/8inches to a side. On the front were paintings depicting a scene from the books. I had these books as a small child in the very early 90s. (I was born '87, so they were for kids around the age of 3-4) Not sure if that was when they were published, but they seemed fairly new.

Plot: Someone has invented a time travel ship. The ship is white, and shaped like an arrowhead. The 'shaft' of the arrowhead is hexagonal, with the engines at the back and windows in the sides for people to look out of. The ship is capable of traveling to orbit, and the bottom of the ocean. A group of children have won a competition to travel back in time with the ship, alongside the owner and I believe an AI, to view various periods of prehistory.

Each book covers a different era, with the first few being pre-dinosaur such as the Devonian era. At one point, the ship is submerged in the ocean, and the kids get out and explore in scuba suits. One boy is nearly got by a giant fish.
As the series progresses, the eras get later and later, with the last being the ice age, showing mammoths and early humans.

Each book is heavily illustrated by beautiful paintings depicting the scenes of the book. I can vividly see in my mind one of them, which features a huge underwater centipede/trilobite thing, menacing one of the kids.

Any help with this would be appreciated, thanks.

Eligmil, that's a good start, but we need more information in the header/title at the top of the page. Many members only read the headers. We have thousands of book requests.

Copy more plot details from your message #1 to the header by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, there's a "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

Eligmil | 5 comments Hi, sorry to be a bother. When I try to save the edit, it goes "page not found". Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for asking. When we type a header title that's too long, the error message (incorrectly) states "Page Not Found." Yes, it's very annoying. :) Just shorten the header a bit. We appreciate lots of details to help speed up the search.

Can you describe the competition or contest that the kids win?

Who are their parents?

Eligmil | 5 comments No idea, it was just a framing device for the story. "These kids won a competition, now they're in a timeship" sort of thing. Bear in mind this was early 90s when I was a small child, so I'm a little fuzzy on things. They were young teenagers, if that helps.
