Tracker

Specifically, I'd like to read this biography - Tracker - it's about this man https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracker... who if you look at his wikipedia page (right column), you will see was known for his work on the Aboriginal civil rights movement.

Would this one work? Driving While Black: African American Travel and the Road to Civil Rights
From the GR description: "As Sorin demonstrates, black travel guides and black-only businesses encouraged a new way of resisting oppression. Black Americans could be confident of finding welcoming establishments as they traveled for vacation or for business. Civil Rights workers learned where to stay and where to eat in the South between marches and protests. As Driving While Black reminds us, the Civil Rights Movement was just that—a movement of black people and their allies in defiance of local law and custom. At the same time, she shows that the car, despite the freedoms it offered, brought black people up against new challenges, from segregated ambulance services to unwarranted traffic stops, and the racist violence that too often followed."

OK, it can be hard to get books like this outside of the US though. These are the options shelved as civil rights US in my library. Will any of these work?
Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America
The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness
Between the World and Me
Thanks!

The second two books that you named are about contemporary events, not about the 60s. I don't know about the first book, since I haven't read it, but if it's predominantly about the 60s, it would work. Possibly the search term "civil rights US" might be more likely to bring up books about current events than historical events.
You might look for biographies of civil rights icons like Martin Luther King, Jr., or John Lewis?

I don't see how this book is about the Civil Rights movement and as far as I know, Maya Angelou was not a leader or important figure in the Civil Rights movement.

Angelou, born Marguerite Ann Johnson April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri, was an American poet, memoirist, actress and an important figure in the American Civil Rights Movement.
I think this is her memoir, and might not all be specifically about the movement, but would be context of how she became involved. I don't know for sure, i haven't read it before

The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration
The description is a bit long to paste here, but it does cover the lives of 3 people during this time period, along with what appears to be a lot of data and interviews from the period of 1915-1970.

The second book would work. The Eleanor Roosevelt book would not - not about the Civil Rights movement and a childrens book that doesn't meet the requirements.

The description seems pretty clear to me, but just in case, there's a Wikipedia article about the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission (what both the book and a 2014 documentary by the same name whose script was written by the same author.

Awesome! I finished it last night and will get it posted - was intrigued enough to start reading it as soon as I downloaded it and it's not long.

The Civil Rights movement in the U.S. took off during the 1960's. Read a nonfiction book about the Civil Rights movement, or about one of the leaders/important figures of the Civil Rights movement. If the connection to the Civil Rights movement is not obvious from the GR description, provide a link in your post establishing the connection.
For purposes of this task, the Civil Rights movement was a struggle for social justice that took place mainly during the 1950s and 1960s for Black Americans to gain equal rights under the law in the United States.
These lists may give you some ideas: Great Reads About the Civil Rights Movement; Civil Rights Study; Sixties Memoirs and Biographies
NOTE: This is NOT a list task - a book need not be one of these lists to be used, and the fact of a book being on this list DOES NOT mean it necessarily works. These are provided just to give you some ideas.
