Could someone explain this quote: "Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter is said to remedy anything?"

Being a responsible adult sucks and is not nearly as rewarding as you would think, but you may be able to deal with it a little better by having a good sense of humor about it.
