Crossroads by Laurel Hightower-Dec 1

Hi All,

We will be doing a buddy read for Laurel Hightower's Crossroads beginning on December 1st.

It is $6.99 on US Kindle store currently.

As it is a novella, only around 100 pages/24 chapters, I am thinking we can read it together as follows:

Dec 1- Begin Reading/ First Impressions- No Spoilers
Dec 5- Discuss up to end of chapter 8- Spoilers through ch8 only
Dec 10- Discuss up to end of chapter 16- Spoilers through ch16 only
Dec 15- Discuss full book- Spoilers allowed

i was able to listen to this at work today. it is so good but so dark and bleak. If y'all have kids, i have no idea how bad this will effect you. but my kids have fur & 4 legs so i was ok. But it did make me wanna cry and hug my Mom and tell her how much i love her.

I was going to read at the pace of the dates I put above ^ but it's so good! I am sure I'll finish it this weekend.

This was definitely a difficult one to discuss in segments, as it is so short! For those of you who have finished reading, any lingering thoughts?

I am curious what everyone else thought. I will definitely be looking forward to more from the author in the future.

I really liked it. She sure packed a punch in such a short story. I don’t think the thing that came back was her son, what do y’all think?

No it was deffo not her son, but he was trying to contact her to stop her.

Oh this hit hard as the mother of a young man just learning to drive.

I think I am with Jason here- her son was involved, but not in the way she thought, maybe.

And Alastor, this certainly does sound like a heavy read in that case, wow.

Do you guys think any of this would have even happened if she hadn't cut herself by the cross the initial time? Would she still have ended up being haunted without first letting blood?
