I thought it was a very raw account of a teenage girl, Sadie, who has been brought up in a world that’s not so great and as a child of a drug addict. She’s pretty much raised herself and hasn’t been able to be a kid. She’s raised her younger sister Mattie, who has been her whole world even after her death. Sadie is on a mission to find the man who murdered her sister and put an end to his life. I loved the setup and narration of the book. I liked how we were able to see how outsiders view Sadie and her disappearance as well as Sadie’s point of view of herself and her situation. They are both very different from one another. I feel sympathetic towards Sadie and her struggles. It’s truly heartbreaking. This story is just further proof that you should ask for help when you are feeling depressed, alone, scared, helpless, etc. It’s a definite eye opener to mental illness.
