Kindle editions being added as separate books?

I've noticed on a few authors I've visited that the kindle editions are being listed as separate books. I've combined a couple, but is this a new thing? The series names are in brackets [] instead of parentheses () as well

Imports don't always autocombine. The brackets is because many authors list series that way on Amazon.

Ah ok. I've never noticed it happening before, but it's just on the newer books - so it might just be no one corrected them yet
