I only read the first chapter of this book. It was earlier this year (2020) and the chapter was in the description on the Amazon link, possibly by an indie author. It starts out about a girl who was in jail, and then she was broken out of jail by a powerful fae male or mage who basically destroyed her cell in the act of breaking her out. He says she can keep her freedom if she agrees to be employed in his service for a number of years, and she must only use her powers for good deeds.She will be consistently monitored and if she strays from the agreement she will be sent back to jail. In the act of breaking her out, the jailer dies and her cell-mate, a simpleton who is besotted with the MC is severely injured. It was implied that the main character has magical powers and has a troubled past. That's all I remember but I was intrigued and wanted to read more!
