Welcome to the Skyward Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on November 5th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

I've read the prologue and I love Spensa! And as it says "It turned out that strange little girls turn to strange little women" haha <3

I'm curious about the story and characters, and since I love scince fiction I will probably enjoy it~

Believe it or not, this is my first Brandon Sanderson book! And, unsurprisingly according to the hype, I love it so far! Spensa is fantastic (she had a teddy bear named Bloodletter, what more can I say?) and the writing is easy to follow while still being interesting. The plot is picking up and I really like where it's headed!

Elantris? What series is that from? I'm only aware of Mistborn, Steelheart, and The Way of Kings.

I'm on chapter 10 and I really like it! I love how Spensa starts to blabber about the bodies of her enemies i front of the class and all haha
I guess Jerkface and her would be more like frenemies than real enemies, but let's see how they are when not on class.

Also I love Kimmalyn and Hurl hahahha

I've read chapter 24 so here are my thoughts at the moment~ I'm addicted to the book, and Spensa's violence reminds myself of when I was little -I'm a reasonable peaceful person now haha.
I'm so curious about her father and what happened around him. I also ask myself what the hell the Krells want with humanity, and sometimes I just ask myself if they're human too?

I really like M-bot. Oh, M-bot. It's always thinking about mushrooms and I love its not-at-all logic. Also, its conversations are hilarious hahaha <3

Well, I like all the characters on this class! Ecen the teacher hehe But Quirk is just sooo lovely! I adore her cuteness! But all the characters have a story behind them, and I really like that :)
I... kind of like Jerkface? He attacks when he's angry but he really wants to be a good pilot in a nice flight. I hope to know what passes his mind at some point.

Oh! And I really like the schemes of the spaceships on the book! It's an awesome detail! <3

I really like it so far! I'd just like to give a shout-out to Doomslug for having the coolest name in existence! I don't mind Jerkface either. I mean, he's not perfect or anything but I don't think he's that bad of a guy.

I just read through chapter 24 and oh my gosh so much happened. Bim and Morningstar! Jerkface not being jerky! M-Bot being M-Bot!

The past six chapters were really good! Honestly, I think Jorgen can be a little annoying sometimes, but he's a sweetie at heart.

What do you thin the defect is? It sounds like some kind of thing that lets the Krell read minds, but maybe it goes both ways? Spensa said that she felt like she could anticipate what the ships were going to do because she just knew it. Maybe that's part of it?

Hi! Sorry I didn't read, I've been busy this week! I'll catch up and finish this weekend, but for now I'm going to comment to what I read (chapter 36 I think).

I've read your spoiler on chapter 31 and spoiler myself because it happened on 32 ahahha But when they started to bond on chapter 31 I was sure Hurl was going to die somehow :( Also, I feel so bad for Kimmalyn, but I expected her to leave it soon or later. (Sooner, in fact).
My theory is that Spensa will be left alone with Jorgen. I'm liking him little by little. They both have a lot in common. And ofc you're allowed to ship them 8) I ship them more like best friends though.

I don't know if they say aything more about the Krell but my theory is that maybe they're humans too? There's so little information I really think they are another human race that wants to kill the "inferior" ones.
Also I think maybe Spensa is a LITTLE Krell, not M-Bot, lol.
I have no idea what the defect could be, but maybe panic attacks? Uhm...

I liked how they knew what the hyperbolic system was lolol I didn't expect that but t maes sense. only person with the defect (or ability I think) are able to do it. So M-bot pilot would probably have been an ancestor.
