I'm going to read it regardless so if you feel like jumping in on conversation, I'll post space for it here. :)

My brain appreciates the distraction from the current news cycle and the opportunity to stretch the grey matter just a touch. Will start tonight.
I've had it on my shelf for years and have been meaning to read it for a couple of decades. I'm already over committed for November but enjoy!

Feel free to come back around and join discussion when you get to it. :)

I abandoned it.... again...."
I DNF'ed it twice - the first time in my 20's when I was more dutiful about reading the classics. With about 100 pages left I couldn't take it any more. Why didn't he just write a nonfiction history and drop the wooden attempt at fiction? Tried it a second time a few decades later, but the added maturity made me DNF it even earlier.

I just couldn't focus on it and want to give it 100% when I do....too much looming over my head otherwise. (At least that's where I'm at today!)

I'm really enjoying it--reading W & P right now. But reading very slowly--I don't think I could have read it on a fast pace. I think I started it in March! So just 2-3 chapters a day. I will finish it this month. I get why people don't like it, but I'm enjoying the detailed window into Russian life across classes, the turbulent period of history. And there are parts where the writing just sings, is so poignant, so spot on.
