Why Read: I've never read this author, but I'm interested in the concept of women delivering books on horseback in Kentucky during the 1930's.

Comments: Sweet book and there's a classic novel that plays a surprising role. I gave it a B+.

Why Read: I applied for this blog tour becajuse the book sounded entertaining and original.

8)The Body in the Castle Well by Martin Walker (mystery) 335 pages. Source: Library Started: 10/17

Why Read: This contains art history, the Resistance in WWII and Josephine Baker. Sounded fascinating.

Comments: It takes place in France. This is part of the Bruno, Chief of Police series. It starts with a missing American art history student who apparently loved the only Da Vinci I've seen in person. It's at the National Gallery of Art in D.C. There was some great content in this book, but I lost interest toward the end and was saying "whatever" about whodunit. This may not be the fault of the author. I'm pretty distracted by stuff going on in RL. I gave it a B-.

I actually loved The Giver of Stars and gave it 5 stars ( I loved this book. Realistic yet hopeful and uplifting too. A nice mix of a great story, unique likable characters (and some horrible ones you love to hate) plus a little romance.) but some of my love may have been the other book it was being compared to which I didn't like as much as most of our bookclub did when we read them both the same month.

I'm interested in American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures. I think I saw something about it previously, maybe an interview with the author, America Ferrera. Will have to seek it out.

I enjoy the Bruno books on audio but mainly for the characters, the small town French setting and atmosphere, and all the food descriptions. The plots are kind of hit and miss.
