This sounds way too scary for me! Hope everyone else enjoys it :)

Melanie It's very light on the horror.

It was a really good book. I hope to get the audio from the library in time for a reread.

Harley Bennett | 116 comments Goods story; not really scary. I read it last October. Ready to read it again.

Thanks! Shame I've just come back from the library (with a Terry Pratchett, so I may be forgiven).

Justine Laismith (justinelaismith) | 348 comments This is a great Halloween read. Yet it is perfectly pitched for middle-grade. It's not too scary, but sinister enough. What can be more chilling than a bunch of scarecrows and a 'smiling man'? The unlikely trio made a great combination.

Jemima, I was more scared reading The Screaming Staircase!

Yes! I agree!!!

Tanya Ball (eyes_bigger_than_my_shelves) | 1 comments Hi guys!!

First post and first club read with y’all!!

Just finished and ADORED it!! While it’s light on horror, I gotta say I’ve never thought of scarecrows as creepy or terrifying until now..👀

Thanks for the great pick and can’t wait to get to know y’all!!💚💛💜

Raquelle Element (elementray932) | 28 comments I'm failing all my classes yet I managed to finish this one on audiobook. The cover art is really good. It manages to have important things from the book and look so good artistically. This was really good. The title was very on point. I liked all the characters and their arcs. I didn't really like Ollie in the very beginning but I gradually came to like her. I want to read the next book but can't find the audiobook free online anywhere :( I knew who the antagonist was when they were introduced. It was obvious. They were the only character Ollie warmed up to upon meeting which made them very suspicious.

I thought it had quite a bit of suspense and it was pretty scary for middle grade. It was also a page-turner and I couldn't put it down. I thought that the characters were all a little too perfect, though. I will probably read the rest of the series when it is finished.
