NB there is hunting and there are a number of important animal scenes in this one. (there were animal scenes in the other two, but I didn't think they ought to count here).
This wasn't as good as numbers 1 or 14. This one starts just as the first one ends, but features Liz, whose symbiont is humming for an alien she doesn't like, plus she is irked that she doesn't have a choice. Not only that, but he does all the hunting and she grew up hunting with her dad. I can understand her feelings, but she is rude and childish--acting more like a 14 year old than a 22 year old, IMO. Soon she is planning her escape, once she can make a bow, arrows and warm footware. As for Raahosh, it becomes clear very early on that he grew up in a dysfunctional family. Neither understands the other.
If I hadn't accidentally read book number 14 first, I would be sure to stop here, but we'll see if I can handle another one or not.
