annapi | 5505 comments Well, the premise sounded cute - Pride and Prejudice told from a cat's point of view, or rather with all protagonists as cats. I did laugh out loud several times, especially in the beginning, but after awhile it did get a bit tiresome and I had to nibble on this over a few days rather than consuming it steadily. I enjoyed the description of Darcy as "a handsome cat with an equally handsome fortune of 10,000 mice a year and an extra six lives into the bargain", and how at Netherfield they "played with a handsome ball with a bell inside, and an excellent ball it was!" These amusing caricatures were interspersed with original passages from the book so that the reader could compare what it was satirizing. Also, the book is peppered with cute photos of kitties, but I was a bit disappointed that there was no consistency with the cats in the pictures (meaning no particular cat pictured was meant to be a particular character), and that many of the pictures could have been cuter.

It's an amusing book to read if you are already familiar with P&P, but I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't. Unless you're cat-crazy.

Sue | 2733 comments I love the description of Mr. Darcy and his 10,000 mice a year!

Come to think of it, Mr. Darcy would be a wonderful cat name.
