ZaBeth Marsh (zabeth) | 11 comments When numbering a series, should the books be numbered according to how they were published or how the author recommends they be read? I know I prefer to read books in chronological order but I didn't want to assume that was the correct policy.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Books should be numbered according to how they are numbered on the edition itself (which will usually be publication order, although some series get renumbered when they are reprinted (in which case the same book may have different numbering for different editions -- do a search in this group on "Chronicles of Narnia")). You can find more information about handling series in the librarian manual.

ZaBeth Marsh (zabeth) | 11 comments thanks for the suggestions Cait. I've read the example in the librarian manual several times but it wasn't making it into my thick head until I read your email. sometimes, you just need to hear things a different way. thanks for the help.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments I'm glad I could help! The Librarian's group has been exactly this useful to me in the past, so it's good to pass it along. :)

Stephen (stephenT) | 20 comments I have gone through G.M. Ford's Frank Corso series, and numbered them all. Can one of your more experienced types take a look and see if it's right? On the individual books, it shows, but on the author page, it does not.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments The formatting looks good to me! (The author page often caches book titles; a good way to see recent changes to titles is to look at "n distinct works" view (this page).)
