The weather is always changing. They say if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes, but "they" say that a lot of places. It's still hot during the day but nights have been getting cooler as we enter Fall weather. We had a big fire here Labor Day Weekend with about 165 structures destroyed in Four Mile Canyon. Tonight I'm using free wi-fi at Borders on Twenty Ninth Street. There is an Red Cross benefit concert going out just outside.

Hey, everybody! Big fan of Stephen White's books for years (just finished The Siege, which was terrific). Just found this group so thought I would join.

Welcome Gatorman! The Siege was the first book I read by Stephen White. I'm hooked and I am reading my way thru the Alan Gregory Books. I'm taking a break from those and reading Under the Dome by Stephen King. Excellent read. I also saw you are a fan of The Last Child by John Hart(?). Loved it too.

Under The Dome was fantastic and I was sorry when it ended (after about 1200 pages!) Keep reading, you will enjoy it. Yes, a big fan of The Lst Child. Love all three of his books. If you haven't read them all, you should.

Everyone has said the same thing as you "sorry when it ended" about Under the Dome. I'm half way thru and just amazed by all the details. It reads almost like a movie. You feel like you are in Chester's Mill experiencing everything that is happening. Its such a fantastic concept for a story, putting a town under a dome. I can hardly wait to find out the how and why!

I have read Down River and John Hart's first novel is in my TBR pile which is overflowing like always. Books are my "comfort food" and when I'm feeling low I buy more!

I do the same thing. When work gets stressful, I make a bookstore run and it always works. Takes my mind off the bad and focuses it on the next story I can get into.

A bookstore run is good. As a matter of fact I'm off to the bookstore now for the next book in the Dean Koontz group read, Night Chills. The only thing is its about 100 degrees here and I'm dreading the errands I have to do today.

You may have noticed we haven't had a lot of activity in this group in recent months. I moderate 3 other author groups and I'm currently working 3 jobs. I simply don't have the time to do what I'd like to do with the groups I moderate, so here's my invitation. If anyone is interested in becoming a co-moderator of the Stephen White - Alan Gregory Group, I'd really appreciate your help. Mainly I would like an event coordinator who could set up group read events and sent out an invitation (so everyone knows when we're doing a group read even if they don't visit the group for a while) - I'd make it real easy on you I promise & it's easy to learn how to manage a group on goodreads. Just send me a message on goodreads if you're interested. The ideal candidate would be someone who has been active in our group, who is generally active on goodreads and is a fan of Stephen White. Dustin, I have been thinking about your "invitation" for a co-moderator. Since I have started working again I feel pretty busy, but I am not working 3 jobs! I would try to help with this, but first I think maybe we should inquire as to who really wants to continue with this group read activity here. There was some interest in this last read, In the Woods, but not nearly as much as in the past. I wonder if everyone is busy with other groups, or just other reading, and would prefer to take a break from this particular group. Can we poll the members and see how many are interested in continuing to read books that are chosen by this group? I am fine with what is decided, either way. I enjoy the group comments and perspectives, but can find other groups to join as well. Thanks for all your work with this group.

Hi everyone! I just joined this group yesterday and wanted to say "hi". I don't live in Colorado (live in FL) and have read all of Stephen's books. The last one he wrote I was able to have signed by him and sent to me here in Florida! What a thrill! I am going to start reading all his books again, in order so I can update my reviews here in Goodreads. I have multiple sclerosis myself and find the books very accurate as far as the illness goes (I know he has MS too). I hope to meet everyone soon!

I just finished reading (Harms way- It was my first White's book)... It was excelent... I just started (Dead time) ..Should i read his books in order or it doesnt really matter?

I like to read things in order and Dead Time is one of the later novels he wrote about Alan Gregory. A lot has happened to him and the people around him in the meantime.

Christine, read them in order. The characters carry through to all the stories in all the books. The books can be read out of order but you will get more out of them if you read them in order.

I started reading the series again with "Privilege Information." In the books, the character is a psychologist whose wife has MS (multiple sclerosis). In real life, the author is a psychologist who has MS. I have MS and the descriptions of how the illness feels are very accurate.

Like the other two fans advised, it's best to read them in order if possible because of all the changes that occur in the characters lives. However, I haven't read all the books myself and only the later ones I've read in order, once in a while picking up an older title in the series. I've been able to figure out what's happened, but you might be in for big surprises if you do this :-)

My introduction to Alan Gregory was in Critical Conditions, and I was immediately hooked. Been keeping up with him ever since, but only recently went back and read the earlier books (great SW collection at the library here in BV!). Figured I better get all those read before making the dive into the beginning of the end: Line of Fire...

Hi, I'm Tim, and I've been reading Stephen White, and have loved his protagonist Alan Gregory and family and practice for nearly a decade +/- a year or two. The first one I picked up was THE PROGRAM several years ago from Books a Million in Cleveland, TN. and have always looked forward to the next one. I do have his latest on my reader now, but haven't started it yet, b/c as many readers I am one who is reading three or four books at a time. At the moment I'm raiding MANIC and a couple others. This is also my first day at Good Reads, and am loving it already. Good reading everyone :)
