I usually read and edit samples the day I receive them and then read/edit over the course of two weeks depending on the word count and author's deadlines.
My prices are:
Beta reading: 0-30k words – $25. 30k-100k words – $50 100k -150k words – $75 150k -200k – $100, 200k+ words is $115
Editing (this includes anything from developmental, copy/line editing, and proofreading.) $100 for 0-30k words. $150 for 30k-100k words. $200 for 100k + words. $250 for 200k+ words
