In this chapter it talks about all the aspects of thinking that can be connected when we read. One part of the text explains that when we are young, like kids in elementary schools, we are reading so much because of what is assigned or the time we are assigned in the library that we aren’t sure about what is to come from us reading so much. This can lead to students not comprehending what they are reading, so they truly don’t understand what they just read. I have been here, where we are assigned reading in a class, but we are disconnected to the topic so it is hard to focus on the readings causing myself to read the same sentence multiple times without knowing what it means. In this section of the text is brings to light the importance of reading with a purpose. Thus, creating a positive motivation for students to read the pieces they are interested in, leading themselves to fully comprehend what they are reading. However, at a young age this can be hard as we are still learning many commonly used words. This can possibly result in students not completely understanding what they are reading but, it can challenge themselves to use the context clues in order to solve the meaning of an unknown word.
