Thanks everyone for the welcome messages, it looks like I really have some catching up to do. Shame about the Grauniad page, I never quite managed to get comfortable with the Goodreads interface and the mobile app is horrendous.
Hello,I have just found out on an article about books about books that the 'What are you reading?' feature was cancelled. Why? I used to be active on the BBC message boards for The Archers and they took away all those options, too. Such a nice community feeling and I met a lot of members in real life - got some work off the daughter of one of them just two months ago.
And now this blow. On top of this bloody virus and Brexit. It's another thing to make me spit feathers.
I think I am nina_glyndwr here. I was nina1414. Nina_glyndwr is what I call my 'Internet name', so I can keep private things and business things apart.

Hi Nina! So glad to see you. Yes, the eradication of participant-friendly community-ish sites that people really value is a sad comment on what the powers-that-be consider unimportant. But with luck we can make something positive of this substitute for the Guardian TL&S.

Glyndwr = the last Welsh rebel against the English. My parents struggled with me as a teenager because they saw me as rebellious. They even bought me the perfume called 'Rebel' (advertised on TV with the David Bowie song).

Hi, Bridget here, but my TL&S incarnation was BerlinBirdie. Bit of a silly name, now I think about it. Thanks for arranging this group! I've only just joined and so far have found this and cats, but no books as yet. Will keep looking.

- one with general questions about the Ersatz TLS group itself (and this Who's who directory is one of the threads in it),
- one on Special Topics where you've found in particular the cats,
- and the last folder is 'Weekly TLS', which opens each Monday morning with a recap from interwar/Justine, the way Sam was doing it, but with her own twist to it! The previous TLS thread then gets closed (locked with that little symbol next to it: you can still read it, just not comment anymore). That's where you'll find most of the books.
*There is also a folder with the closed Special Topics.

Hi all, happy to see a new space has been created. I was EnidColeslaw on TLS but had not participated in quite some time, was more of a lurker as of late. I see some familiar "faces" already. Will try to be a bit more active this time!

Although, I actually prefer sea trout myself.

Good idea! There are still a few people I'm not sure about, and there will be late arrivals.
For those interested, I have updated the Who's Who visual directory, in Photos https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group.... There are now 7 pages in total, sprawling page 2 and 3, Edit: with the new comers on the 7th and last page (apologies to Jon who arrived after I was done with the update). (I have left the same comment on the TLS 'What are we reading' thread.)

I was storm46 and with stunning originality, I am Storm on here. I have always found Goodreads a bit of a nightmare to navigate, but finally decided to make an effort to use it this weekend, and now find you have all,been having a TLS party while my back was turned. Lovely. I have so been missing, yes the chat, but very much the sharing of bookish thoughts.

Are we supposed to introduce ourselves? I joined the group here a few days ago but haven't posted anything yet. I was BMacLean or BMcLean on the Guardian TLS, can't remember how I spelled it there. Nice to see everyone again, I've enjoyed browsing through the posts the last couple days.

Hi all - I was a long time lurker, occasional commenter on TLS. I had no idea til today that TLS was gone, and was glad to see that this group had replaced it.
