Lusie: What do you think they tried to do when they accidently send the moon away?
Susan: I think humans sent the moon away, perhaps intentionally.

Lusie: I'm not sure which sides in the war there are. I think:
- a group who wants to destroy himans
- a group which is yet undecid
- a group who wants to bring the moon back
Susan:I think the 3 groups are:
(1) the Evil Earth,who wants to kill all humans
(2) those who are ok with the status quo (some of the Stone Eaters)
(3) those who want to bring the moon back, hopiing it will fix the problem with the Evil Earth (definitely includes Alabaster, and I think some Stone Eaters)

Lusie: It doesn't seem to change things now that Shaffa knows who Nassun’s mother is. I'm starting to think Shaffa wants to bring the moon back which is why he is training the children.
Susan: Interesting - that hadn't occurred to me

Lusie: Nassun might be as strong as her mother.
Susan: I believe we read something earlier that said she's even stronger than her mother. Can't remember where.

I've finished now too. Overall I enjoyed this book but maybe it wasn't quite as exciting as the first for me. Really looking forward to the third, which will hopefully answer a lot of these questions. It feels like the first two have asked more than answered though, so it feels impossible to wrap it up neatly in just one more book!

I'm particularly interested in how the relationship between Schaffa and Nassun evolves - I thought he was irredeemable, but maybe he has a chance. The three sides are also really interesting as you discussed above. I suspect Essun will choose the third side to bring back the moon.

I have just a couple more chapters to go. I'm likely to finish tonight. Having a hard time right now not clicking on your spoilers in messages # 52 and 53 right this minute, LOL.

So it's fine with me to go ahead and choose dates for the third one that will let Tien join us as well. I'm still waiting for a hard copy, but can get a digital one right now.
