This is where it really picks up Harlee! I know, I love their "friendship" for lack of a better word. Its a really interesting relationship between the two and I just love it! I also love that its not romantic at all, but it gets really deep.

I know what you mean...those scenes with her and Rowan were really hard to read. But then they became the catalyst for turning their relationship around. Very well done!

And Manon LOL! It feels so weird liking her, but I totally do!

I must say, this book has gone from good to FANTASTIC!

(view spoiler)[The glimpse into her past was so interesting and heartbreaking. It's so weird how she met Dorian as a teen. And as awful as it was, the massacre of the slaves felt realistic given Adarlan's nature. His army is freaky with those demon princes. Things are not looking good...at all. (hide spoiler)]

YES, that last 200 pages or so just flew by for me, so much amazing things going on!

(view spoiler)[ I loved FINALLY getting into her head about what happened the night her parents were murdered. It was so sketchy up until now. What a horrible night!

And agreed on the slave massacre, I have a feeling that was an idiotic thing for the king to do! People are going to be more willing to rebel now! (hide spoiler)]

Hi,(jumps into conversation) I read heir fire when it came out, must say I skipped the mammon Chapters in the Whole book. I just couldent deal With her, love Rowan and all the other New characters tho.

FINISHED! Oh. My. Gosh. Gah. Very strong ending (view spoiler)[I totally did not see Sorscha being a rebel spy either! She seemed so...innocent. The only thing I didn't get is why Dorian didn't use his magic to save her. He knows his dad would be willing to kill her, so you'd have thought he'd have been ready to go :( But, of course, I did love that he saved Chaol. (hide spoiler)]

One other thing I don't fully understand... (view spoiler)[ Why is Celaena able to look like a human while within Adarlan's borders? I thought magic was impossible, but that's a form of magic, right? Shifting. And then how is Dorian able to do magic? I'm a bit confused about where magic is prevented and where it isn't. (hide spoiler)]

YAY!!! I'm so glad you like it too! And I'm (view spoiler)[ kind of glad you didn't figure out Sorscha either, now I don't feel so dumb! But honestly, the author did not spend a lot of time on the Dorian/Sorscha story line, and I kind of wish some more time had been spend on that.

Okay the magic thing...I don't know about Dorian, although I suspect his is not natural, wasn't that hinted at earlier? That the kind did something that might give him magic. So in that case, that would sort of make sense, as its the king's magic. The King's magic seems alive and well, its the spell he's created.

On Celaena...she is half mortal. Her normal form IS human, when she shifts to fairy, that is using her natural magic. And why she was only able to while in the portal till now. So I think if she returns to Adarlan, she won't be able to shift to fairy form. That's what I understood, anyways.

And as for Dorian not saving Sorscha, I think he was in denial and didn't think the king would really kill her. He was still trying to talk him out of it, and then it happened so fast, so I just don't think he was ready. It was kind of a stupid development if you ask me, but I'm sure will serve the story's purpose in some way. Not that Sorscha died, but how that all went down. So then Dorian was already raging mad, so its makes sense he was able to act quicker with Chaol. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Toward the end I was getting really frustrated at the gap between her chapters because hers were my favorite POVs the whole way through. Then FINALLY we got her chapters again...the war games! It was so predictable at first, with the Black Beaks crushing the other teams, and then Maas did it again! The twist with her and Abraxos saving the other witch was SO GOOD. Absolutely loved that whole scene, and love the fact that all the darkness and evil inside Manon has suddenly melted into a shade of gray. I've got a feeling that she's going to become a major hero in book 4, well set up! (hide spoiler)]

Oh YES, I loved Manon's chapters too! (view spoiler)[ I think you are right, she is going to be very important. All these new characters are, although Sorscha's importance may just be in Dorian wanting to defy his father even more.

But, yes, I just love Manon and Abraxos, they are AWESOME! I loved how at the end we saw just how much the king has manipulated them, and it sounds like society in general. Very powerful lesson/story line!

Back on Dorian, I felt SO BAD for him all through the book. He's basically lost his best friends, then at the end, he loses his new love, then his father enslaved him with that collar. It will be really interesting to see where that goes in the next book!

I LOVE this series, its seriously becoming one of my faves, such great fantasy! I can't wait for the next book, there's still so much story left! (hide spoiler)]

Yes I loved that too! I really enjoyed her chapters, and I also really liked the part with the Crochan witch at the end. CHILLS.

Harlee I was in tears over their friendship in the last 100 pages. It was just so beautiful! I only finished it a couple of days ago and I can't stop thinking about this book and its characters.

I'm going back and reading through all yours and David's spoilers now lol! This is definitely now one of my favorite series! (view spoiler)[ I agree about the demon prince guys, they are CREEPY! All of the dark magic the king is doing is scary! He is such a force to be reckoned with but I'm definitely rooting for our beloved heroes! I also agree about Dorian and Sorscha's relationship being a bit underdeveloped. I feel like she was kind of bland, though I definitely didn't suspect she was so spy! I was totally feeling Manon's chapters, but her very last one doesn't sit well with me. I wish the one before that had been the last one. Finally, I have to geek out about Celaena and Rowan's blood oath! Eeeeek! I'm so happy he'll be fighting at her side. I agree completely...I preferred CoM up into the last 150 pages and then Heir of Fire became my favorite!

Awesome :) Yeah, that blood oath thing reminded me a lot of Cassandra Clare's parabatai thing in The Mortal Instruments. It's cool how they can sort of harness each other's magical energy.

Completely confused.
(view spoiler)[ What exactly IS the first Wyrdkey? Is it the black rings they wear? I thought it had something to do with Elena's crown.
Also- what exactly is Celaena's plan here? Murder the royals, come back, and keep serving the king? She knows she is Aelin, so I would assume she'd be trying to figure out how to use that knowledge to her advantage against the king, but not so far.
And... Are Celaena and Galan... half-siblings? (hide spoiler)]

And considering there are so many POV's, the pace is quite slow, which is not often the case. I hope it picks up soon.
Manon- I hate her, but I think the author wants the reader to develop a connection to her. I won't let that happen.
Sorscha- Please don't tell me this is a future ship.
Rowan- Kind of like a lesser, meaner Chaol.
The book hasn't grabbed me yet, but there's still plenty of time left. (hide spoiler)]

It took me awhile to get into this book too. All the other perspectives are a bit overwhelming. (view spoiler)[ It took me the longest time to like Rowan! Sorscha was pretty meh to me. I love the multi-POVs in this book :) But I just love multi-POVs in general, like in Gone or Unwind. Manon is my favorite character!! Disturbing and violent, yes, but oh so interesting and twistedly likeable!

I actually loved the multi-POV's in Gone and Unwind. I just think that considering that there are a lot of POV's, the plot has been moving a little slow in this one so far.
I'm TRYING so hard to not like someone who i KNOW is evil. lol

This one actually moved kind of slow for me, too, until about halfway in, and then I couldn't read fast enough! There's some AMAZING events that happen in this one, and the ending was incredible!

I thought you liked those two ;) But yeah, they definitely have faster moving plots than this one. I think you'll get into this one eventually, and LOL about the evil character you're trying not to like! Don't fight it, my friend!
