As I mention in my mountain topic, every year I plan to read only from my own stacks in an effort to get my owned TBR piles under control. And every year I get distracted by library books that I've always wanted to read or a book that a friend tells me is fantastic. So--I'm going to reward myself with a mountain climb and hope that I don't get too distracted from Mount Everest over in the Mount TBR Challenge...

I am attempting an Everest climb for 2021 but like many of you, the fun of new releases, book clubs, and other books I haven't acquired will weasel their way in. So I'm embracing that and starting at Rum Doodle.

Hello! I do the Mount TBR challenge every year, but have never joined this one because it feels like rewarding bad behaviour lol. My TBR is huge precisely because I read too many library books! But, I've decided to give it a try in 2021 anyway. I do have a goal of staying more on top of my library books, i.e. not having an unreasonable number of them checked out at once, and actually being able to read them before I'm forced to return them!

Also, I actually have a get-from-library shelf on Goodreads, where I put books that are "wishlist" type books but I've already checked that the public library has them and I don't need to own them. Yet I rarely look at that shelf! I just end up reading random library books! I may try to knock some books off that shelf.

Yes--it does seem a bit like rewarding bad behavior. But I decided that since I always do wander off my owned Mount TBR, I might as well get to climb a mountain of some kind. :-)

I plan to attempt 36 - a mix from the library and a load my in-laws have loaned me that I'm trying to work my way through!

Hello! I’m jennifer from Florida. This is my second year doing the virtual challenge. Every year I try to read only books on my shelves but I love reading new releases and I get many of those books from my library. Pushing myself from 12 to 24 on my virtual climb this year.

I read library books so often that this challenge is just right for me. I'm still thinking about the possible mountain ascent, whether it's Mount Munch or White Plume. Since I also want to read a lot of my own books, I shouldn't reach out so high.
