kyla Hi I'm kyla, and this is my first year doing mount tbr I can't wait for next year so I can pound these books and start reading. I never did anything like this so I am super excited

Stephanie A. | 6 comments Hi all! This will be my second year doing the challenge. Probably gonna go down to Pike's Peak because I suspect I may have less reading time in the coming year. But I really enjoyed the challenge of trying to read down my shelves/donate any books it turns out aren't ones I'm likely to read twice, so looking forward to doing it again!

Nell Hi, I'm Nell. Re-upping for another year of reading the great books on my shelves. Somehow they continue to multiply...hmmm...must be magic! 😉

Mt Vancouver is my go to level - doable with a bit of effort & focus. Good luck to you all on your climbs.

message 54: by Jadetyger (new)

Jadetyger Sevea Here I am again. I think I'm going to start with Pike's Peak in 2021. I had high hopes the 2020 climb, but...yeah.

So, starting at the bottom again! Wish me luck!

Boxofdelights | 3 comments I'm Susan. This is my first attempt to tackle my unread book pile this way. I have at least a thousand unread books, but I'm going to start on Mt Vancouver.

Kelly (bookwormonwheelz) | 32 comments Hello everyone! My name is Kelly. I'm new to the challenge... so I am going to go for 24 books on Mount Bland for 2021!

message 57: by Amy (new)

Amy | 27 comments I'm back for year five of the TBR. Looking forward to climbing with the community. Thank you Bev for the opportunity to join.

message 58: by Andy (new)

Andy I'm a book-a-holic and I really need to read these books I keep accumulating!

Hi my name is Anne.

This is my first time trying this challenge and I can't wait to get started. I did just a cursory quick count of the books I have yet to read and it is well over 60+

I decided to try Mt. Vancouver this time. Thanks!

message 59: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 7 comments Thanks for Year #10, Bev! Such great incentive! I promised myself I'd buy NO new books this year (and made it to December, so I consider that a big success!) I finished WAY more than I purchased and passed some on. I'm anxious to start climbing Ararat once again, now that I've broken a trail to the top!

message 60: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) Hi, I'm Jamie. This is my second year, and while I did not reach the top this past year, I am striving for the summit of Everest again this year. I own ~500-1000 books (not that I think of that as a problem really, except that I do need to read them.) I also love using the public library, and I love audiobooks, which I always access online or via the library. So if I finish ~300 books per year, I really should be able to make 1/3 of those books I own already. I got really distracted by audiobooks this past year, but 2021 may be better. :)

I love this idea, especially pairing it with the myriad other challenges I plan to participate in for 2021 (I never knew all this existed, I will probably be far more rational and restrained in planning 2022.)

Is there a way to look at some people's lists from 2020 just so I can see what info is expected and what it will look like?

Thank you for creating this.
Happy reading,
Lisa

Thanks for doing this again Bev, I only just managed to read 12 books on my old Kindle last year. I'll try harder this year.

message 63: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn Watters | 12 comments I am going for Mount Vancouver this year. I should do more but I know my favorite authors will coming out with new books that I will buy. I am really curious to know how the Mount Olympus people do it though. I guess I spend too much time with my other obsession - crochet.

Lynn (larainey) | 121 comments Hello everyone~ I am back again and I am going for my 60 book challenge like I normally do. Good luck every one!

Yes, yes, I do! I have been crocheting like crazy and I took up diamond dot painting during the shut downs. And I love jigsaw puzzles. I always have several things started at one time and if I walk by one project I seem to get distracted and start working on it, regardless of what my intentions were or what else I should be doing!

message 66: by Tip (new)

Tip Thanks, Bev, for the challenge! I am looking forward to another great year of climbing!

message 67: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Hi everyone, I'm Kelly. This is my first attempt at the Mount TBR challenge and I'm excited to get started. My Goodreads challenge is set at 60 books so I have signed up for the Mount Ararat challenge which will give me 12 books for New additions! Thanks for organising this, I'm looking forward to a great year of reading.

message 68: by Maribel (new)

Maribel | 1 comments Hello! I'm Maribel and this is my first time joining this challenge. I have been looking for a challenge that would allow me to dig into what I already have so this is perfect. I am starting with 12 books as my intention for 2021 is to NOT stress myself out. If I get those 12 done then I will happily move on to the next mountain. Looking forward to getting these piles down with you all. Happy New Year!

message 69: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1 comments Hi! My name is Ashley, and this is my first year doing formal challenges other than the built-in numerical one on Goodreads. I signed up at Mount Blanc level, but hopefully I'll surpass that.

My local used bookstore takes used paperbacks for store credit, and I've spent all my credit and haven't accumulated new... but have shelves all over my house, with a majority of the books on many of them unread. So my goal is to read enough books on my shelves that I can take some the used bookstore and get some new ones!

message 70: by April (new)

April Thanks for making this group! I'm hoping to get my TBR shelves to the point they're only TWO books deep instead of three. That's pretty reasonable, right?

message 71: by KeenReader (new)

KeenReader Hello, this is my third year of mountain climbing. In 2020 I aimed for Mt Ararat, but abandoned TBR mountain climbing part-way through the year. However, I am dusting myself off and getting ready to start again. I'm going to aim for Mt Vancouver this year.

Steven (wyldemusick) | 153 comments Now in my tenth year of mountaineering, at least on Goodreads, and once again I’m going straight for Olympus. Let’s see if I can keep the pace this year...I have a habit of getting off track and having to make a mighty push.

message 73: by Amber (new)

Amber | 13 comments Hi, this if my first year with Mount TBR. Last year I did two book challenges and completed both by October. So this year I'm trying 5 (including this one)! I usually read 200-300 books a year but have been reading a lot of library books and not the mostly eBooks I've been buying (out of sight, out of mind). Last year I did a cute bullet journal page based on the house and balloons from the movie Up! and coloured in almost all my balloons. But I added all the eBooks on my Kobo app to my TBR list in Goodreads and I have nearly 900 books. Gulp. So I think 100 of my owned books is reasonable. We shall see! Good luck everyone.

message 74: by Renee (new)

Renee (reneezrichter) | 14 comments This is my first time trying this and I desperately need it. I have over 300 TBRs around my apartment. I read 495 books last year, but 144 were audiobooks and 225 comics/manga. That makes only 126 written word books. For myself I am going to exclude the stacks of unread comic book paperbacks from my climb. I am also going to exclude any book club books I have already bought for this year.

message 75: by Marie (new)

Marie (marie2) | 9 comments Hello Everyone! This will be my third year to join in an adventurous trek up the mountain. This year I will attempt to climb Mount Blanc and read 24 books from my home library. Thank you again Bev for hosting another great reading adventure!

message 76: by Kate (last edited Jan 05, 2021 07:06PM) (new)

Kate (kateunabridged) | 4 comments Hi everyone, and thanks Bev for organizing this again! I think this is my 2nd year doing Mt TBR. Last year I aimed for, but didn't quite make it to Mount Blanc, but I somehow doubled the amount of books I own and didn't read in 2020. So I'm going to double the height of my mountain in the hopes of making a dent in my piles. So this year I'm aiming for Mt Ararat.

Hi, Gilda! Glad you're with us here on Goodreads. Have you been able to set up your challenge topic okay for your climb?

message 79: by Gilda (new)

Gilda Felt | 80 comments Yes, I finally figured it out...at least I think so. *g*

message 80: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (keslei) | 28 comments I'm excited to be back for my fifth year of climbing! After falling short of the summit of Mont Blanc three years in a row, I seriously debated downgrading to Pike's Peak. However, knocking those first twelve books off my TBR mountain each year has happened rather easily - it's the last six or so that give me trouble - and I want this to be a challenge, so I'm back for another scramble up the slopes of Mont Blanc.

message 81: by Susan (new)

Susan | 4 comments Hi, I’m Susan, and yes, I too am a bookaholic — reading, buying, browsing, borrowing from the library or a friend, the occasional freebie — all good. So I’m back to tackle another TBR mountain here and probably a virtual mountain, too. See you on Mt Ararat! Thanks much, Bev, for organizing this again!

Amelina Hi, I'm Amelina and I have a stack of TBR books that I've sadly neglected for far too long. It's time for me to rectify the situation. You have come to my rescue and I'm looking forward to begin climbing. Thank you.
