Charlotte | 1701 comments Thank you all!!! Offer letter officially received, signed and sent back. Background check is in progress!!

I officially start Nov 9th!!

Maybe now I have this huge weight lifted I can start reading again lol... I've been having so many issues focusing. Nothing seems to hold my interest. For the first time since I found this group 2 or 3 years ago, I may not read the tag for a month. I need to find something short and easy!!

Amy | 12953 comments Just wanted to add that I just read and reviewed my 100th book for 2020. And its only October 24th. I usually read just about 100 books a year. Maybe 102. I also want to add that I am starting a book today that will be my 25th state (although I am arguing for myself that I actually have three more, they just don't technically count - although each of them should!) This is my book news. More personal news to follow on next Tuesday's thread. This week belongs to our beloved Charlotte.

Theresa | 15664 comments @ Charlotte - enjoy your time before starting work again. Cuddle wirh the furries, enjoy fall. Maybe take some day trips ... safely. Buy a pumpkin and carve it. Take long walks. Rest up because I just know that you are going to be enjoying your new job so much, you will hit the ground in a sprint.

Theresa | 15664 comments My news today....I voted! Early voting started in NY. I have never ever seen such a turnout! NYC is not a ghost town. It is like we set out today to prove how wrong that comment was. Voters were upbeat but committed, determined.

Feels so good.

Robin P | 5806 comments Yes, I see that around the country people are posting pictures of long voting lines not as a problem, but as a triumph of democracy. In some places, World Central Kitchen (Chef Jose Andres) has contracted with local food trucks, restaurants and caterers to serve free food to people in line. We used to see stories about 3rd world countries where people made huge efforts to vote while we mostly took it for granted.

Congratulations, Amy! I have also been reading about 100 books a year and this year I am already up to 121! Part of it is the enforced time at home, but a big part is my GR groups where I have become much more involved doing challenges and readathons. And I wasn't even in the main PBT games since I came in partway through the year. I'm curious to see what the mods invent for next year.

Charlotte | 1701 comments I've been struggling with reading lately... I'm thinking it was the stress of all the prep that I needed to do for my interviews. I just couldn't focus on anything else because my mind would wonder.... I couldn't focus.

This might be the first month that I don't get a book read for the tag since I started PBT a few years ago!

Maybe I'll read Winnie the Pooh really quick lol

That's fabulous news. You deserve it. Congratulations! I know you'll make the best of the opportunity.

Maybe you could spend some time in nature (or meditate), or do whatever makes you feel centered and refreshed.
