In this chapter it talks about how as teachers it is important to assess our students in the best way, which can mean other things than large-scale exams. I like to think about assessments in the terms of a reflection of what students understand, from the lessons that are taught on the topic being assessed. In order to make sure students are understanding the material, then to ensure teachers are aligning their grading with the material taught the textbook takes readers through 12 steps to help make this happen. Each step goes into great detail about how to ensure this happens in your classroom, but also provides readers with examples or worksheets they can use with students to help their understanding of the topic. I really enjoyed reading about the last step, labeled as Make Writing a Priority. I find this very important because teachers can use the excuse of you will have to use this later in life for every school subject, but writing is a skill that is truly used in everything we due starting with something as small as texting. There is a form of writing is most aspects of life, so if we are able to show the importance of it at a young age it will help create stronger writers.
