Deep in the drop behind Green Mountain High, Emily Perkins finds a gateway to the past where she’s no longer a nerd, and the school’s superstar quarterback is in love with her. He hasn’t yet suffered the crippling injuries that will ruin his future, and Emily thinks she can use the gateway to save him. But there’s a price to pay. Dangerous distractions wait on the other side. Visions of social injustice haunt everyone who returns. And Emily soon begins to realize that even the gateway can’t be trusted.

Book Title: Five Days in May
Genre: Historical Fiction

its free on kindle unlimited, If you like the book I would appreciate reviews on amazon and Good Reads. Thanks!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08GJ6R99F

Here's the Blurb....

On 10th May 1940 Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands. After five days of bitter fighting the Dutch surrendered on the same day that the city of Rotterdam was reduced to rubble.
FIVE DAYS IN MAY is a World War II escape story following the escapades of three resilient Dutchmen (Dirk, Kobus and Smit) who tried in vain to defend their nation against the Nazi invasion, and then spent years fighting back against the increasingly oppressive regime. Five dark years of Nazi occupation resulted in slavery, starvation and torture for hundreds of thousands of Dutch citizens. This unprecedented level of suffering resulted in a giant wave of fear and anger that swept over the Dutch people as Dirk, Kobus and Smit navigated their own personal journeys in pursuit of survival and resistance. Against the historical backdrop of the Dutch capitulation and occupation, the main focus of the story is on the three daring personal journeys undertaken.
The stakes are high as the three Dutchmen gradually become embroiled in dangerous covert operations with the Dutch resistance and the RAF.
Although this is a fictional story, it is based on a solid framework of true events. FIVE DAYS IN MAY is a gripping tale of escape, betrayal and revenge.

Gail Meath (goodreadscomgail_meath) | 3 comments Hi Marian, I looked at your blog, very nice, and I know you're looking for young adult fiction. I wrestled with the adult/young adult genre for my book, Countess Jacqueline, as it is a fictional account based upon true events of a rather unknown female European ruler in Medieval times. She was was 16 when she inherited the countship of Holland and for twenty years, she gallantly fought against the most powerful male ruler in Europe to retain her title, the freedom of her people and the man she loved. There is a reference to sex, yet behind the scenes.

I wondered if you would be willing to include this on your list. She was a remarkable woman and a wonderful role model for all woman whatever their age.

Thank you for your consideration. Please let me know and I can send you a copy in any format of your choosing.
Gail

Gina LoBiondo (ginalob) | 104 comments Hi, Marian, I've published 3 books and am always looking for reviews. Here's a summary for you --

My 2 children's picture books are called Pegasus -- A Dragon's Tale and Button Nose the Sad Little Bear respectively. Pegasus has won 11 prestigious book awards and is the story of brother and sister royal bear cubs who find a mysterious egg while out playing one day. It eventually hatches into a cute baby dragon and the 3 become inseparable friends. The story centers on that friendship and what happens after they are separated and eventually reunited. Button Nose has won 6 awards and is the fictionalized account of the teddy bear I had as a child and what happens to him after he's sold in a yard sale. The back of the book blurb says it's "the story of a much-loved little bear and the little girl who will never give up on finding him again."

My 3rd book Cinderella -- A Love Story is a 130-page, 16-chapter juvenile fiction book (winner of 3 prestigious book awards) and is "a fanciful and absorbing rewrite of the classic faerie tale". It is told here in a fascinating new version, set circa mid-16th century. Younger readers will love the borrowed magic that enables Ella to attend the ball, while older readers -- including adults -- will connect with the inseparable bond between mother and child; a bond that transcends time and space and even death itself.

Ella's parents are young and in love and the family is happy until Marie suddenly dies. Her father remarries, hoping to give his beloved child a mother's love and care. But Charles's new wife is a cruel, unaffectionate woman, who cares only for her own two very backward daughters, and turns her step-daughter into a servant. Ten years later, when the King throws a ball in honour of his son, Ella's only chance at happiness comes from a most unexpected source.

Please let me know if you are interested in any or all of them. Thanks! =D

Ann Swann (goodreadscomann_swann) | 6 comments Hi Marian,
I'd love to have you review my contemporary YA novel, YEAH, BUT I DIDN'T, on your blog.

It is the story of family secrets, dueling siblings, and attempted suicide. Through it all, Benji uses Art to cope with the effects of three unexpected and devastating life events (sexual assault, betrayal by her friends, and the suicide of her estranged father). After an unsuccessful suicide attempt on her own part, Benji finds herself in a therapy group with other kids who can also say Yeah, But I Didn’t. It’s not a club, but maybe it should be.
