Morgan decides in the moment to represent Nick after he was arrested. Given her background as a prosecutor, what do you think was the one thing that made her do this?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1810 comments I think it was a combination of elements that made her realize he was innocent - his personality and the fact that he throws up at the sight of blood.

I actually found it interesting that the author mentions his extreme squeamishness and then basically forgets all about it. The book has a number of details that lack this follow up, which is disappointing.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think it was the fact that Morgan knew Nick and didn't believe he was capable of murdering Tessa. I also think the fact that he was squeamish cinched the deal for her.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments As a prosecutor she knows that most pro bono lawyers are not that good, and will try to convince the client to plea or not give him/her a solid defense. She was concerned that Nick would be railroaded with the counsel available to him.

Her belief in his innocence was the primary force behind her decision. She was praying his father had the money for adequate counsel but deep down knew he didn’t.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I agree that Morgan wanted Nick to get the best defense possible and, as a prosecutor, she also understood how the case against him would be built.
