ABANDONED. 90s-ish YA Thriller similar to "I Know What You Did Last Summer" about a highschool girl who is maybe being followed by a new boy at her school? Spoilers ahead!

It was a book that I read about 10 years ago 2010-2012 when I was in elementary/middle school. I've always thought that the book I read was I Know What You Did Last Summer, but I recently looked it up and discovered that wasn't the book I read at all. I then tried searching through all of Lois Duncan's other books but still couldn't find it.

I can't remember the book very well at all anymore, but I believe it's about a highschool girl who meets a weird guy that moves into town and attends her highschool. I think that she thinks he's following her? Or maybe she follows him? And then at the end of the book it turns out that the guy's intentions were not as sinister as she had originally thought. I think it might be that he was interested in her because she looks like a family member of his or something. Also I strangely remember a clothing iron somehow being involved towards the end.

I know that this is not a lot to go on, but I thought I'd give it a try. I'm think the book was published in that same era as I Know What You Did Last Summer, but I can't be sure. Thanks for the help!
