ABANDONED. Mystery Thriller about a man imprisoned in a cottage in the desert

I read this book about 8 years ago. On the back of the book, I read that there was at least one sequel, maybe two, not sure.
The cover was dark with dark green if I remember correctly.

The man holding the prisoner turns out to be his brother, that's all can remember.

Is there another character featured in the book, who perhaps helps him escape?
