I think what you're looking for is media and text? It's a block, where you can put media on one side and text on the other?

Hi Lilly... don't worry I had that same problem too. You can only have a sidebar if your theme offers one. I use Tonjours... you can see my blog to figure out whether it suits you? Nucleare and Sobe also have sidebars. I hope this helps, apologies I'm not sure about what the navigation part means.

NO I DONT. That is the most frustrating thing that I'm dealing with ARGH

that's what i did too.
So right now I'm trying to put featured images on my blog. I know how to put featured images on my blog and such. However. I'm trying to find a good size to use to create the featured image on canva...usually I use the blog banner option but I think that's too big because it doesn't exactly fit on my home page. I want something that looks nice on my home page. What does everyone use for featured images, either a specific template on canva or a certain length x width (in pixels I guess)
Hmm. I use the business card size, because I personally like how that looks.
Hmm, interesting. Yeah, I saw the business card style and thought it might work. I think because our blogs themes are very different it might look a little different on mine? Since I have a sidebar, the featured images might be a little smaller? I dunno. But thanks for the suggestion!

for the sidebar, you'll have to click the little customise button, and then when a column appears, you'll have to click the thing inside it called "widgets". after clicking on widgets, you can get options to add text, images, html, buttons, etc, to your sidebar and 3 footer options!!
keep exploring and clicking stuff, you'll find your way!! i mean, that's what i did :/

Hmmm....I don't know blogspot very well (aka at all) but maybe you could try to have a menu for different pages at the top instead of having to click the three bars at the top. And maybe make actual pages instead of just archives and labels because that's a little confusing. Then you can sort your posts into book reviews and book tags and monthly wrap ups or something like that. Hope that helps....

Thanks! I've just figured out how to do that, but at present I obly have the reviews page....I'll update with more :)

Also, do any of you know what it means when the html goes completely black after some text? And if there's some way to fix it?
I have no idea how people hide spoilers but I do know that some people do it....sorry I can' help more. I've seen Katie and Cherelle do it so maybe they can help.
No, I don't think that's ever happened to me....

Thanks anyway :)
How do you usually write posts? I mean do you type it all out or use html only sparingly?
Yeah, I pretty much just type it all out...for book reviews, I just talk about what I think about with the book and type it, for lists or awards I may come back when I think of something or stuff like that...it all sorta depends.

Okay so do you have a page published that just isn't up on that bar?
If that isn't working, try going to 'customize' and then 'menus' and then 'main menu' (it should probably say 'currently set to primary menu' or something) and when you're there you can click 'add items' at the bottom and add pages to the menu

I want to know whether images alongside text look better than images above/below text:
Could someone/anyone/everyone see this post: https://trishadoeseverythingbutstudy...., and compare it with this post: https://trishadoeseverythingbutstudy...., and tell me which image format looks better?

I like the second one better. With the images above, when they're on the side they make the text line up a bit funky.

Yep, you're right....I'll go with the second one, and explore sisde-by-side later
Okay, I'm trying to figure out what theme to use for my blog, because I don't like my current one. Does anyone on Wordpress have any recommendations?

I went with Gateway, and I can insert a logo, but I chose to remove mine because A; I'm probably going to change the name of my blog and hence the logo as well and B; I didn't like my old one. I'm currently working on designing something else so that's why there isn't one.
Do you know when you're going to get a post out again? You haven't really been posting for a while! I'd love to see more posts from you--but I understand why you might not want to write posts, they take a while.
I'm going to be (hopefully) posting today. But we'll see. :/

I'm trying to make four sections: Home, Blog, About, and Contact. Here are my problems:
- They're not in the order I want them to be in?? So I click the "reorder" button when I'm setting up the menu and I put them in the correct order I want them, but they're not showing up the right way? For some reason, 'About' is first at the top (on the actual site) instead of 'Home.'
- So I'm trying to create a dropdown menu. For my "Blog" section, I'd planned to have three sections; "Reviews", "Book Tags," And "Book Lists." I used the same "reorder" button when creating the menu and I put used the left arrows to put them into the "Blog" section but it's not showing up as a dropdown menu when I'm on the site? Like they just show up as regular sections rather than a dropdown option like I'd wanted.
Sorry if that was confusing lol, if anyone can help that would be great!
Okay, so where are you that you're doing this? You should be in customizer -> menus -> main menu (set to primary)
Then, you can drag the different page titles to different spots in order. And for dropdown menus, it should work the same way, if you're in the same spot, you can sorta drag things to be slightly...indented, sorta, under other page titles, which will make it into a dropdown menu.
Not all themes support dropdown menus I don't think, though? But almost all should.

I do not know, I'm sorry. Most do. And did you click save, that might have to do something with it? I don't think it will change immediately, you may need to go and check your site after you drag them and change them.

The main thing would be finding out whether your theme supports drop down menus.
Other than that, is the order problem like you can't get the hierarchy to be right?
Like what was happening with me was that I would save it as Home, About, and Blog, and then put Reviews, Tags, and Lists under Blog, but what it would do was put them all out separately. Or put Reviews under Blog, and not take Lists and Tags.
In the end it took me a while, but I used the buttons instead of dragging it, and it worked out fine.

Wait, so is are your reviews, tags, etc. slightly indented when you look at the order in the customizer? For example, (this is mine) this is what it should look like:
https://livinglovingandreading.files....

You have to make categories for each (Ex: Reviews, Tags, Lists, etc) and then in go to Customizer -> Menus -> Primary Menu. And then at the bottom there will be a button that says "Add Items". So click on that and you'll see your able to add posts, categories and tags to your menu.
Hopefully that made sense.

Wait, so is are your reviews..."
Thank you so much, I'll check on that!

Do you see anything I need to fix there in order to make them show up in the right order as well as have a dropdown menu?
That's really weird, it looks like that should work, the way it's set up? If you try to click 'reorder' what does it do? That's super weird?
The only thing I could think of to do that's a little off on yours is that all the things you want on the dropdown menu should be the same amount indented--for example, if you look at Ritz's, they're all the same amount indented whereas yours get more and more indented as they go down--unless you want it to look like that (which I believe, if it worked, would make a dropdown in a dropdown in a dropdown).
