[Grant, Usurper of Book Club]

Been meaning to read another Stienbeck for some time now. Of Mice and Men was a book that I really liked, so I wanted to take on one of the (literally and figuratively) big ones but at the current I was feeling like I could use something a little lighter spirited.

The back cover of the copy of the book that I have even describes the book as one which is full of joie de vivre. But in reading the book I found that it was a little more complicated than that. There are a couple of suicides in the book even.

As the prologue explains, it's about an author who is charmed by his home and wants to write about it. Writes a love letter to it, but I'm interested in reading his love letters and the charm doesn't really work for me, but nothing interesting happens either, so I didn't particularly enjoy it.
