Hi everyone! I’m looking forward to this one - how can a book about a corpse in a snowman NOT be great? ;) For anyone having trouble finding this one, it is available on Hoopla.
I would think so...it's an app that you download. I use it on my iPad. They don't have like a full library selection, but they are great for hard-to-find books.
I haven't finished yet but for me the first part is good and right now it's sort of gone downhill.

Hi Lisa,
Unfortunately I won't be able to join in on this one. I live in South not North America so won't be able to get it on Hoopla and it's not on Open Library which is another source I use.
On the other hand, I do have my copy of Tied up in Tinsel waiting and ready on my tablet, so I guess I'll be here at the end of the month.
Happy reading to the rest of you.

Rubena, if it's any consolation I'm almost finished and haven't liked it. If I weren't a little OCD I wouldn't even finish it but it would drive me crazy not too. Were you able to get Tied Up in Tinsel on Hoopla or did you get a paper copy?

I’m sorry to hear that. I wish there was some way to share books with one another online. Where are you in South America?

I have it as an ebook which a friend of mine gave me years ago when I started reading them. She knew how much I love reading and kindly gave a whole bunch. Glad the group will be reading it soon so I can "dust it off", if that can be done with an ebook.

Venezuela. I have a Kindle app so I get lots of stuff off of Amazon. Actually it's the only thing I buy there. It also means that I find "newer" mystery and crime writers (at least for me) because their books are usually cheaper. One of my students calls me the "penny shopper", you know the "big spender".
Anyway, it just means that I have to choose the group reads I can participate in. I'll start on Ngaio next week.
Enjoy the book. I look forward to reading your comments.
Can I take it all back. It ended up being pretty good. Maybe it was just my frame of mind. Anyway, not bad.

Sheri, I also did not think much of the story at first but in the end I did enjoy it. I liked the relationship between the Strangeways.

If I hadn't been reading it for this discussion I wouldn't have finished it but am glad I did.

I find myself stopping to look up words, phrases, and references frequently, as I often find myself doing with older novels, particularly non-US ones. I just looked up “A Rake’s Progress”, a series of paintings mentioned in the book. I love the little bonuses that come along with a book like this one. It’s slowing me down, however, I’m not even halfway through, and need to get cracking. I’m enjoying the story. Just went back to reread the first chapter, as I suddenly recalled, “Oh, yeah, there’s also a corpse in a snowman in this book!” I’m so focused on (view spoiler) that I nearly forgot all about it.
I'm still finishing this book... Hope to be done tomorrow. I love the quotations at the beginning of the chapter and always go back to read them as I finish each. They always prove insightful. I also really like Nigel and Georgia as a pair, and what they both bring to solving this mystery.
