We are a witness to Wendy and Nicole’s murders and know the killer is someone named Brian who has a brother named Ned also involved. As the story unfolded, when did you begin to see the connection to the blackmailing scheme? Did you believe Wendy was working alone, partnered with Ivy or part of a bigger enterprise? Who did you think these guys were working for?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I thought blackmail from the beginning. The fact she recognized Brian led me to believed she wasn't working alone. I had no idea who they were working for.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I realized they were blackmailing men when the recording equipment was found. I wasn't sure how Wendy and the girls were working together or if Wendy was running the ring.

I didn't know who Brian and Ned were working for. As soon as Senator Paxton came into the picture, I thought he had hired them.

I was clueless for most of the book about who was connected to whom and why. It didn’t help that some used multiple names. I didn’t think Brian was smart enough to be on his own but for a long time I thought he might be connected to Paxton. But when Jocelyn and her husband Chris were killed, I backed off that theory. He just wouldn’t have killed someone trying to help young victims.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I agree, Jonetta. So many people and so much going on. The recording equipment screamed blackmail, but I didn't connect Wendy and Ivy for quite some time. I had absolutely no idea who Brian and Ned were working for until it was revealed. I had so many theories going.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Jonetta, I figured Jocelyn and Chris weren't targeted, but just at the wrong place at the wrong time. I thought Brian was going after the girls and took them out when he killed Maddie. That is why I was still sticking with Paxton at that time.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I agree, Robin, I thought they were collateral damage to the murder of Maddie. Wrong place, wrong time and this dude just has a taste for blood.

Robin, that makes sense.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I was confused as to who was who until I was about halfway (or more) through this book.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I suspected blackmail but I didn't have a clue who was involved. I was sure Jocelyn was collateral damage, but her husband was involved in some way. Their conversation overheard by Maddie made me think there was something going on with him.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I did not connect the brothers to their "boss," I did realize that Wendy was involved directly in the blackmail. The rest of the characters were in neutral territory for me, other than that I knew we didn't like the senator.
