Sue | 2719 comments The Flight Attendant by Chris Bohjalian is #16 on the Unofficial Trim Continuation for a few of us.

But this buddy read is certainly open to anyone who would like to join in!

I just received my ebook from the library, so I'll start reading soon.

Amy | 12916 comments Finished! Here's my review!

Chris Bohjahlin is a serious hit or miss for me! His works have been some of my absolute favorites (Midwives, the Double Bind) and some of my most hated (I won't name those.) I went into this one with low expectations as it did not get raves. But I actually rather liked it. Kind of a standard 3.8. Mystery thriller with an unreliable narrator, which is "in" these days. That caricature portrait was actually well done and the main character is likable, but absolutely a complete mess! I enjoyed the ride. I look forward to talking about it more with others.

Sue | 2719 comments I'm close to the end here - I expect to finish today. I'm really enjoying it too. After seeing the mixed reviews I was a little skeptical too, but I think I'll end up giving it a pretty good review.

I agree with him being hit or miss. My favorite Chris Bohjahlin books are Skeletons at the Feast and The Sandcastle Girls.

I really liked Skeletons, Sue. Maybe I will give him another try with Sandcastle girls.-he seems hit or miss for a lot of people, which is why I never picked another one of his books up

Amy | 12916 comments Loved Skeletons at the Feast! And Midwives and Law of Similars and Trans Sister Radio. Liked Buffalo soldier. Favorite is the Double Bind. Sandcastle Girls was meh for me! Eden and Night, well night was disturbing beyond belief and Eden was just silly and wrong. This was a nice middle ground, easy flight!

Sue | 2719 comments Just finished reading tonight. I gave it a solid 4 stars.

I really liked some of the twists and turns. Some I figured out, but not all - and I loved being surprised.

I found myself thinking "what would I do?" besides not be a black-out drunk of course. But we all make wrong turns and bad decisions and I like trying to work out what decisions I would make in Cassie's situation.

As I thought of this, I wavered between "I would tell the FBI everything" or "I would completely clam up and trust only my lawyer". Of course Cassie takes another path entirely. And I sincerely hope I'm never in one of those no win/no one will believe me anyway situations.

Amy | 12916 comments This event really had her take a hard look at her life. And still she was kind of a mess - which makes sense. One can't pull it together overnight. But its interesting to have a character who questions herself because of her character of past escapades/life. I do want to talk about the ending too. But lets wait for Sally to finish before any spoilers emerge. I didn't mind it....

Sallys | 694 comments I thought that I responded but it was on my phone so I guess it didn't get through. I finished tonight. I enjoyed reading the book but as far as previous Bohjalian books it didn't hold up for me. I loved Double Bind and Midwives. It seems like there are some others I should read. I didn't really like Cassie. I guess I felt she was a cliche so that definitely affected my feelings about the book. I loved the plot twists which I didn't see coming. Overall the book was entertaining and kept me interested. I don't generally like this genre so it was fun to read something that is not my usual fare.

Sallys | 694 comments My comments are not posting. Is anyone seeing them?

Sallys | 694 comments Oops. There it is. Solid 3 stars.
