Simon | 15 comments I came across a collection of 50 books that appears to share a single ISBN across each book. I don't know if this is common in the industry but a problem arises when searching for one specific book.

A list of all titles of the collection can be found here. It was published under the name "Meisterwerke der Weltliteratur" by Weltbild in 2005 and all books are in German language. When searching for the ISBN 9783828979253 or 3828979254, it only finds this book which is the 6th title of it.

I do own a copy of Walter Scott's Ivanhoe which is released as a part of this collection but I cannot find the exact edition of it as is has the same ISBN (also Ivanhoe has over 3000 edition entries which I do not want to scroll through to see if my copy is even in the database).

Does this problem happen more frequently and is there a way to solve it as in making all titles easily accessible?

It's not very common, but offhand I know of several other similar cases. Usually it's budget publishers trying to save some money on ISBN costs.

Since only one edition can have the ISBN on Goodreads, finding all the others can be difficult.
