I think I've seen it searched for before, but I can't find the thread (if it was in that group). The family was poor, and they decided to stage a fall so they attract media attention but instead of the son, it was the daughter who fell? And she comes back as ghost for revenge?

I’ve been searching for a book I used to own but never got around to reading. The description was about a couple who had a child that fell down a well, but the case might have been about fraud or insurance fraud. I’m gonna estimate it would have been published between 1994 and 2003. If this sounds familiar to anyone I would so appreciate any info on author or title! Thank you!
