Connie N. | 685 comments Hi Carrie,

From your list: How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire (Love at Stake, #1) by Kerrelyn Sparks If the Slipper Fits (Cinderella Sisterhood, #1) by Olivia Drake

For a bonus, these are both books of short stories that I've recently read and enjoyed, one is kind of creepy and the other more of a fantasy:
Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror (Tales of Terror, #1) by Chris Priestley Water (Tales of Elemental Spirits, #1) by Robin McKinley

Hope you enjoy!

My apologies for being mildly late (or at least not as early as I could've been). My brain has turned into a mushy substance not unlike banana pudding.

But enough of that. For your old book pick (which is now on my own to-read list), I went with Hunter (Hunter, #1) by Mercedes Lackey , and for your new book pick I chose The Overstory by Richard Powers . For the bonus pick, I saw that you wanted to but hadn't yet read Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall , and the decision was basically made for me. ^_^
Enjoy!

Bonus from your TBR: Painted Faces (Painted Faces, #1) by L.H. Cosway

Happy Reading :)"

Thanks for the great picks. I've been really into thrillers and cozy mysteries lately, so both of those should work nicely. And I think I've had Painted Faces on my Kindle app for at least seven or eight years, so now it might finally be read. ^_^

Thank you, I read Hunter (3 stars), which I found to be a standard dystopian fantasy with nothing really to distinguish it and some easily researchable mistakes in places. I did really enjoy Boyfriend Material (4 stars), as it was silly and cute and what I needed that week. Have you read The Affair of the Mysterious Letter? It is my favorite by Alexis Hall (not a romance just FYI).

message 74: by Marty (last edited Oct 25, 2020 11:39AM) (new)

Marty (martymill) | 1299 comments I only managed one of my picks this month. I finished West with the Night by Beryl Markham . Beryl Markham really was a wonderful writer, great turns of phrase, nice sense of humor.

I could not get into Opium and Absinthe by Lydia Kang at all for some reason. It's the type of book that I should love, but I just couldn't make myself read it. I'm leaving it on my TBR and will try again another time.

I don't think my bonus book will arrive in time - I had to order it through interlibrary loan, and they are experiencing a lot of delays. Hopefully, I'll have better luck in Novebmer.
